Hello, and welcome to RJF's Charm School For Wayward Gherls. In today's session, we'll talk about the perfect temperature water should be at for brewing tea, we'll learn how to make macramé dream catchers, we'll discuss the pros and cons of setting a dinner table, and later, when we're all understandably drained, we'll sit quietly and ruminate on the day's lessons. In fact no let's just have a disaster instead. Here we go. Well, my babies. We've been through it this year, haven't we? Bowie, Prince, Brexit, Trump, Roxxxy making it to the final in All Stars 2, @strangekin abandoning the Beyoncé Rate, two Top Answer Games, GIFs being unleashed in Off Topic, @Rhombus reaching 100K likes before me. 2016 has been hard, and as I sit here at 11PM on a Sunday night, head banging from a hangover and the ever-present existential dread that comes from being a mid-twenties mess, the world does not provide much comfort in such a tough year. Thankfully, however, the world has had a wonderful soundtrack as it makes a giant leap towards oblivion, and unlike any other years, we've not had to go searching under rocks and ocean trenches and forests to find the good stuff. 2016 was the year that pop's top tier finally, collectively, got their fucking shit sorted after a good few years of not being able to pull themselves together at the same time. Not just them; music in general this year has been fantastic, and in general one of the most satisfying twelve months in a long time. So here, we gather to celebrate such excellence in the only way that Popjustice knows how: with a brutal, petty melee in which I force you to quantify your opinion on nearly eighty songs, and reveal the running order according to the average ranking said quantification resulted in over the space of a few weeks instead of just revealing the whole list in a night, because drama, meltdowns, fights, fall outs, and fuckery must be assured by creating a hateful pressure cooker of a thread in which only the mad and the damned can survive. 2016 has seen so much uncertainty, but don't worry, my friends. If there's one thing you can always count on, it's this: I will bring you mess. I will bring you hot, shitty, sexy, filthy, glorious mess and rain it down upon your lives until you're begging for mercy. Sexy and hotter let's shut it down. POUND THE ALARM. The rules: - People have been playing around a lot with the scoring recently, but I'm going to keep it simple. Not only because I can, but because I know some of you are so damn anal that having to decide the difference between a 7.7 and a 7.8 would give you a rash, and I'm not in the mood to coach anyone through their neuroses over a damn pop music game. So you must give every song a score between 0-10, with half marks (1.5, 2.5, etc.) allowed. - One song, and one song only, can be given a score of 11. This is not one song per album, this is one song in the whole rate. Your favourite. The one you want to see go all the way. - Here's a new one: after submitting your scores to me, I will only allow one score change. Again, this is not one round of score changes were you get a chance to change as many as you want. You get to change one song's score if you have a change of heart on how you feel about it. Everything else is in stone. - As always with VS Rates, don't be a fucking prick and troll. Like, anyone bombing out any of these albums are going to come under intense scrutiny from me, and most certainly the thread when the scores are released, so just make everyone's lives a lot easier, and don't bother. If you're here to support one album, then I don't want you here. It's that simple. Our contenders, in order of release: Rihanna - ANTI 1. Consideration (Feat. SZA) 2. James Joint 3. Kiss It Better 4.
