Harry Styles - Self-titled debut album

Discussion in 'Pop & Justice' started by Vasilios, Jan 4, 2016.

  1. Interesting to see how this pans out. I really like his voice.

Harry, 21, has already penned songs for his first album away from One Direction.

Last week it emerged he has been working alongside Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid and dance producer Gary Go.

And songs titled 5378 Miles, Already Home, Coco and Endlessly have been listed with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers – with Harry as the only performer.

HARRY STYLES-AZOFF RUMORS HEAT UP FOLLOWING 1D’S TROUBLED FINAL DAYS
On New Year’s Eye, celebrity-gossip site Inquisitr posted a story headlined “Forget “Hendall,” Why Is Harry Styles Hanging With the Azoffs?” Along with speculating about the One Direction centerpiece’s sexuality and his relationship with Kendall Jenner, the report stated that Styles had been spotted dining with the Azoff family while vacationing in Anguilla and St. Barts.

“Many of Harry’s fans are hoping that Harry and One Direction can break free of Simon Cowell and their current management during their upcoming hiatus,” reporter Alan Ewart wrote. “Many believe that [Irving] Azoff would be a perfect fit for Harry and One Direction. It has also been reported in recent days that Harry has registered a number of solo tracks in the U.S., so it may be the case that Styles is working on a business relationship with Azoff.

“It is likely that Simon Cowell’s SYCO will still have some sway over the One Direction name, but Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne may well be able to sign with Azoff as individual entities.”

Regular HITS readers are well aware of the Styles-Azoff rumors; we’ve been reporting for months that Harry and CAA agent Jeffrey Azoff are close friends, and that there’s a strong possibility Jeffrey, Irving or both will oversee the solo career of the 1D heartthrob in a management-client arrangement. It’s less likely, however, that any of Styles’ former mates will wind up with the Azoffs.

Styles is said to feel no affinity toward other band members anymore; indeed, their relationship has been so strained during the course of the last year that 1D insiders were expecting a blowup of epic proportions during the group’s last tour. The situation became so dire, according to our sources, that the band members were no longer talking to each other, with fist flights nearly breaking out at several points.

Styles' apparent disgust with the other members leads many to believe that Azoff will only be representing Harry for the time being. If and when their lifestyles deplete their cash, we may see a reunion at some point down the road, but SYCO will continue to own the 1D brand.

  2. I really don't think he's charismatic or interesting enough to make it big on his own and I can't see him putting the leg work in to make up for his shortcomings. The 1D fans will only carry him so far.

I quite like his vocals on You & I though, so more of that please.

  3. It seems that he's going for a Coldplay/Gary Barlow anthemic pop route.

  4. I assume Johnny McDaid is producing the whole thing?

8 songs were registered to APRA with Harry as the performer.

  6. He'll probably end up in the same pretentious manner as Zayn will present himself, but instead he'll have a more acoustic/arena-pop sound. Nothing to get excited about, imo.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

  8. All I want is a Rolling Stone expose of what went down. Zayn started that ball rolling (as did the Guardian piece), but more is desired!

As for Harry - his voice is shot and I can't see him commanding a stage. However, today's pop stars don't need to be good any anything but great marketing and ambition and Harry has both in droves. I'm interested to see what he comes up with although I am not convinced he's that good of a songwriter as everyone says. His lyrics are trite, the melodies are derivative and he often sings outside of his range, straining his voice.

My only advice is to stay away from the Jenner girl. Those deliberate yacht pictures were sad. Yes, he's as thirsty as that family (and his ex- Taylor Swift), but no need to let everyone besides the Directioners in on that just yet.

  9. Cackling, I'm here for all the intra-band violence. And now people can stop acting like Zayn was an asshole to claim they were all unhappy. I'm quite excited to see how far Harry will take his Mick Jagger-by-way-of-Michael Hutchence cosplay.

Edit: isn't Azoff Christina Aguilera's manager, the one who thinks she's still relevant? And please, Harry, stay away from Roc Nation - unless you're Grimes who handles her music and creative direction herself (and you're not, as you're not a genius) or something, they will screw you over.

‘Something Great’, which he co-wrote with Gary Lightbody was dull so I doubt whatever he’s worked on with the other Snow Patrol guy will be to my taste, however I’m sure he’s going to be very successful on his own. He doesn’t have to start from ground zero like Nick Jonas or Nathan Sykes because he has already calved out his own identity/brand being in the band.

  11. I'm most interested to see where Gary Go's involvement takes this. I loved his music.

  12. I definitely think that Zayn will be more interesting sonically, but I guess I'm interested to see the route Harry goes down. To be honest, I don't see it being much different from One Direction's current material.

  13. He's very charismatic (he's got that James Dean daydream look in his eye) and I like his voice, so I'm hoping the music is good.

If I could choose producers, I'd team him with Ariel Rechtshaid and Jon Brion.

  14. Cut the hair to 2013 length and I'm in.

  15. I could imagine Harry being the solo star, Zayn flopping and 1D returning in 2018 with a four piece minus Styles.

  16. Oops, I should have checked here before posting the dirt in the One Direction thread. I suppose it doesn't hurt to record it there for posterity as well.

Curious about his material, as he was the biggest star. He desperately needs to take a break and let his voice rest a bit.

Ugh, why? Why is he even bothering? Just go and make your career out of sitting front row at London Fashion Week with Alexa Chung and call it a day. Who wants this? Who thinks anything good will come from this?

  18. Harry will certainly benefit from his cult of personality, but any musical sustainability will most likely be purely incidental.

  19. He's not a particularly interesting songwriter (Just a Little Bit of Your Heart is only as great as it is because of Ari's vocal) so I hope he doesn't try to self-pen this whole thing. Get Taylor to give you some songs.

    That said, here for this.

  20. I read somewhere that Chris Martin has been writing for him. He could do a lot worse than working with Chris, and he's certainly a step up from that Snow Patrol guy.
