    Number Ones
10/04/1982 Give Me Back My Heart - Dollar
17/04/1982 Give Me Back My Heart - Dollar

    Commentary:
So, Dollar hold the top spot for a 2nd week with their own personal favourite single, Give Me Back My Heart, as well as a respectable rise for Ring Ring. Hot on their heels though are another duo, Bardo, whose short career highlight was possibly our best Eurovision entry of the 80s, One Step Further. Altered Images make a grab for the top spot with their underrated See Those Eyes, and Monsoon zoom into the top 10 with the wonderful Ever So Lonely. Sharon Brown and Kim Wilde chart new entries and will be ones to watch in the coming weeks. Fox, with their theme from the Kenny Everett show, come in at 36, with the surprisingly forgotten Electro People. Oh, and Gary Numan would have done better if Noise Noise had been the A-side, not the flip side.

  4. THE EG RETROCHART TOP 40: Week Ending 17th April 1982

EG's Chartdust: The truth is Bucks Fizz continue to rule the roost, with Imagination's chances of topping the chart now looking to be just an illusion. Dollar emerge as the greatest threat, moving from 7 to 3, although don't discount the UK's 1982 Eurovision entry from Bardo which makes a chart entry at #8 (having been just outside the 40 last week).

There are four double-digit climbers between #11 and 20, as Haircut 100, Pigbag, Bananarama/Fun Boy Three and, er, the England World Cup Squad all make swift progress. Kim Wilde is back with a brand new hit at 27, and Spandau return with a heavily remixed track from their recent album. Meanwhile Simple Minds look set for a genuine chart breakthrough with Promised You A Miracle, and it's hello to emerging Synth duo Blancmange as the quirky God's Kitchen (twinned with I've Seen The Word) arrives at 36.

  7. Oh, I'll see what's up with it. I was having trouble with the links, not sure why. It's a new hosting service that I'm not quite used to.

  10. I think he's tinkering to make Dollar number one after all. Cheryl's crazy hair on the Camera picture sleeve put him off their single.
