Singer Songwriter Dancer Model Actress Icon Feminist Producer Activist Artiste Inspiration Grammy Winner It was about time we would pay huge respect to miss Solange Knowles. So let us all take a seat at this rate and go through most of Sol-Angel's catalog and hand out some true honest scores. Solange manages to shift effortlessly between the motown sound and the current indie and neo-soul landscape. Paying respect to music of the old days and still sound fresh enough for today's climate. It didnot start like that. It all started at an age of 14 when she released her debut album 'Solo Star' on Boxing Day in 2002. Titlewise it is probably some weird pun to her big sister who was currently in Destiny's Child and on the verge of her solo career too. Despite a reissue in 2006 this tanked massively and hasnot been even put on i-tunes. Physically it hasnot been printed anymore and is now officially a 'rare album'. Things changed a bit with her second effort 'Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams'. She dropped the dancepop and embraced motown. Vocally and lyrically there was some real growth. It was also much more well received than it's predecessor. Aside from some side events, things turned quiet again. But we didnot lost her and True was ready to enter our lives. A return to form, despite it's shortness in tracklist and era impact. Things turned got coldish again, only to be reignited massively by that amazing opus last year. An album that made me realise this woman needs a rate desperately. And if nobody else will, she is mine. And here we are.
