  This is The Hold Steady, they are America's greatest bar band. They released several albums with the same kind of character driven bar rock that Springsteen has perfected. They also happened to cover one of my Springsteen songs, turning the stark acoustic Atlantic City into an E Street Band stormer.   Hey musical soulmate! Have you ever heard of David Bazan? I think he may fit somewhere in your love of Bruce/Killers/FJM. His album 'Curse Your Branches' is an all time fave of mine as it's about his mid life crisis of turning from a devout christian to an atheist, really interesting stuff:
