Same here. I never quite understood why it's held in such high regard among TFF fans. I saw them at Wembley when they toured the album and it's still one of the most boring concerts I've ever seen.
I will buy the deluxe though and give it another go, but I'm not expecting any epiphanies.
Congratulations @berserkboi. A very well deserved win and my all-time favourite entry.
For some reason I had Partenaire Particulier a bit confused with another artist (Bandolero, I think) so I didn't have very high expectations when I saw their name on the list of entries. Just goes to show...
I have voted.
Whoever entered my twelve I am eternally indebted to. Quite honestly the best thing I've ever heard in any of the rounds. Actual genius!
I spent a few days in NY one winter in the late nineties and I have never experienced cold like that in my life! We were literally crying...
It's not their best album.
What really drags it down for me is the production which sounds a bit Erasure-y. That and having seen them perform some of the tracks live prior to the album release where they performed a version of Monoculture that was positively dripping with nihilistic venom...
Soft Cell's "overlooked masterpiece" (ahem) gets a reissue on 25/09:
"Soft Cell’s 2002 reunion album ‘Cruelty Without Beauty’ is set for reissue in new expanded and remastered 2CD format, as well as being released on vinyl for the very first time.
Long regarded by many fans as an overlooked...
Probably my favourite album of theirs. I seem to remember some fairly vicious reviews at the time though. Strange that it's now considered to be their best.
Some gothy stuff works quite well in the sunshine though. Marc and the Mambas 'Torment and Toreros' is one of my favourite Summer albums.
They're a bit of a swizz to be honest. Just seven tracks for this one as opposed to the twelve tracks they spread across the singles from the CD singles box.
You get nowt for nowt with DM.
It's probably the not the most Summery of listens, but I can't get enough of The Cure's Pornography at the moment. One Hundred Years in particular.
Ooh!
And yet a search on here threw up a few solitary mentions in other random threads.
I can even see that I've posted quite a few times in the other thread! Doh!
The first two can be had on Ebay for way below the original asking price at the moment. I've seen new, sealed copies for around the £25 mark which isn't too bad.
I'm considering holding back on the Violator one myself as it's almost certain to crash at some point too.
Is there really not a Yello thread on PJ?! Apparently not.

Will they ever eclipse the genius of Solid Pleasure and Claro Que Si though?
