RLY (Real Like You) (X-Factor: The Band): Love Me Or Not (Aug 3)

Why are they being pushed in such a boring direction.

Sugababes - "When the Rain Comes" + 9th Album

They are truly angels but why is Luke sharing trash quality videos. They deserve better! Also this is from 10 years ago.

While I’m not sure another drug cartel show is necessary right now, I am very here for Sofia Vergara to reveal her dramatic acting chops. You can tell she’s serious from the nose.

Prime introducing ads next year. These streaming business models are cursed.

    PopJustice Book Club

So… I kinda read the whole longlist. Quite happy with the shortlist. Prophet Song, The Bee Sting and If I Survive You were my top three (in that order) so I was delighted to see them make it. Western Lane is a touching little story about grief. It’s short and quiet but I found it quite...

    Video Games

Yeah, I mean I probably play 80% digital (and of those, most are Game Pass games these days). But I hate the idea of a console-maker’s storefront being the only place you can buy games. It will absolutely be abused if that’s the only option.

    Video Games

I hope the digital-only Series X doesn’t become the only one available. I kinda dig the cylindrical design, but not offering any consoles capable of playing discs seems a bit shitty. The new controller seems like the most interesting part. Feels *way* too late to finally be bundling a lithium...

    UK Politics: General Despondency

The discourse (and level of support) around Russell Brand on Txtter makes me feel ill. The country, or at least the contingent of it that spends time on that platform, is truly broken.

    The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

Is there actually tea here? Doesn’t particularly seem shady to me - I assume they filmed their parts separately, given how much chopping and changing went on with the Illuminati line-up.

    Past Lives

I liked this a lot. Very melancholic, lots of clever layering, surprisingly funny, and a pretty perfect ending. (There’s also been a lot of love for this one in the Oscars thread!)

Thanks for sharing. Super weird for the copyright claims to come to Popjustice if the media isn’t even hosted on the site. If a tweet is embedded here, it’ll be embedded in countless other places.

    Apple

I’m on a Series 4 watch, but I’m going to wait one more year as there are rumours of a more significant redesign in 2024. Apple you need to ditch the curves and gimme that flat slab I want!

    Oscar Bait 2023-2024

Yessss bagged tickets to All of Us Strangers at LFF, plus the surprise film. Was hoping for Salt Burn and Poor Things, but the doable dates for me were sold out by the time I got in. Never been to a film festival before so I’m excited for it!

I think they just fucked up - it’s been corrected to ‘first top ten’ now.

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

Absolute scream that Padam Padam’s cultural impact has tricked the straights into thinking it was a number one. It certainly should have been a number one. Amazing that it was the most-downloaded track though.

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

I actually really like 2 Hearts, and think it was a smart release. It kept the ‘Kylie versatility’ narrative going, and the sound makes sense in the context of 2006/7. It was her own take on the soundscape of stuff like I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ and Grace Kelly.
