Shakira - "El Jefe" + General Discussion

Shakira pretending to be Mexican and jumping on the corrido tumbado trend is not something I find particularly appealing, but good for her if this gets her a new hit.

Troye Sivan - “Got Me Started” + Something to Give Each Other (Oct 13)

I'm surprised this was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and not the team involved with Rush. They don't sound far apart! Both are very beautifully produced and mixed, that's for sure. I'm not Troye's biggest fan, but he's definitely delivering, ticking all the main pop girl boxes, etc. I was a bit...

Kim Petras - Feed the Beast / Problématique

Wow, I'd no idea about this. Pretty harsh considering Kim actually put it out as a single!

Kim Petras - Feed the Beast / Problématique

Yes, I meant the released incarnation of Problématique, which does not include the songs that were used for Feed the Beast (such as Revelations and Hit It From The Back).

Kim Petras - Feed the Beast / Problématique

Yeah, I think it's ridiculous to say that these bunch of cast offs put together as an album is better than the parent project they stem from. I do agree that it sounds more cohesive than Feed the Beast, but that's not necessarily a good thing... it's just that all of the tracks that didn't make...

    Slayyyter - STARFUCKER

Living for this sounding exactly like Marina and Ava Max.

Kim Petras - Feed the Beast / Problématique

I actually prefer this version (original?) than the other one (Oliver's remix?), which sounded messy and overproduced. It's got this cutesy 2009 vibe that really does it for me.

    Icona Pop - Club Romantech

They had something going on and showed real promise for like a pair of singles and then I Love It happened... and they were never able to properly capitalize on it, and they lost all of their cool, alt-scandipop edge in favour of trend chasing-type stuff. It's a bit of a shame, but kudos to them...

Shakira - "El Jefe" + General Discussion

The performance was pretty incredible. She's certainly on top form! The pre-rec'd vocals were... questionable for the most part, and the live mixes of the songs weren't the best, but Shak sold the whole thing with her unparalleled stage presence and the relentless bops. A triumph.

    Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS

This picks up where the brattier side of Night Time, My Time left and I LOVE it. It's so very well produced. Dan Nigro did an excellent job.

Kim Petras - Feed the Beast / Problématique

This is... completely random. Kinda living for the vibrato, it's out of control, and the rap section serving strong Jessie J teas dd

Sally Shapiro - "Fading Away" + General Discussion

In my head I could already hear exactly what this sounded like before pressing play. Real thing does not disappoint!

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

I heard Tension everywhere out over the weekend and now I'm completely sold on it. Not sure why I didn't instantly like it. A bop.

    Doja Cat - Scarlet

The music video for Demons feels like the most mainstream superstar moment in pop in a while, it's genuinely scary and it's so good! The song... not so much.

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

I'm actually very surprised by the comments in this thread calling Tension "leftfield". It sounds quite generic to me in terms of style, production and even Kylie's delivery in the verses. Very much in line with the typical housey but not too housey, disco but not too disco type of music that's...

Troye Sivan - “Got Me Started” + Something to Give Each Other (Oct 13)

What I find somewhat interesting about the remix is how the mixing on it sounds a tiny bit rougher than the original version (which sounds polished to the maximum).

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

I'm bopping, but Tension feels very insubstantial and throwaway. It doesn't have enough charm or a strong hook to justify the fact that the production is nothing special. It does sound very "current", but that's about it.

    Charli XCX - 6th Album

Just curious, why does Matty Healy of all people own rights to Rina Sawayama's music? Is that confirmed? I'd no idea they worked together.

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

It's pretty evident they've chickened out from trying to push another song before the album because they don't want to kill the momentum Padam has built. And that's fine, I guess. Just guessing, but there's probably nothing on it that could become another hit for Kylie.

    Selena Gomez - "Single Soon"

I find the comments about Selena sounding off key on this really funny. She's not, but the verses do have a really unusual melody and phrasing, and sound even more jarring when the more "normal"-sounding chorus appears. I actually find the song cute in its (unintentional?) weirdness. The...
