    The Reissue Thread!

I’d rather they reissued the deluxe CDs of a few years ago - surely they’d get more take up doing that than this sort of thing? Especially so as the earlier albums are so hard to find at a reasonable price second hand.

It’s up there for me too (with Secret Oktober). Makes for a great cover too - when I heard Warpaint’s version it was just about perfect.

    Depeche Mode

Meaning this another single? Or just an album track with a video and no mixes? Their ‘singles’ release this album has just messed with my head

    Duran Duran

Well I do prefer this but it’s really only a step above b-side (remember them!) material compared to their last album. Still at least it’s listenable so far

    Thrift Shop finds

Todays mini haul was a pleasing selection of albums- Cathy Dennis ‘Move to This’, The Cribs ‘Men’s needs…’, Deacon Blue “When the World knows your name’ and Spandau Ballet “ The Twelve Inch Mixes”. Particularly pleased with Deacon Blue that I had on cassette and never replaced with CD until now

    Duran Duran

And I can’t see how they can cover it in anyway that won’t seem awful compared to the classic original. I’m split on the new album, but still want to give it a listen

CHVRCHES - Screen Violence + Lauren Mayberry (Solo)

I understand that but equally if that’s not really what your solo album is going to sound like then can’t help but feel it’s a big risk that you’d lose people’s interest before the solo project has really commenced. Especially so the more casual fans - I’m not going to be put off by one dull...

At least the Jewel's version I've located on qobuz as a digital copy. Not that they have an extensive RS catalogue!

Thanks - now want that promo but £30 is a bit rich for it!! That said, the enhanced second cd single isn’t too cheap either, sourcing stuff years after release is a pain.

thanks @Mvnl - backfilling my collection with some CD singles so checking that I pick up those with worthwhile mixes & b sides

Is that the Aurora Vocal 7 minute plus one?

CHVRCHES - Screen Violence + Lauren Mayberry (Solo)

I don’t hate it as such, probably worse is that I found it boring and forgettable. Someone else said 15 minutes later they couldn’t remember it and I feel the same.

‘Nothing in Common’ came up on random play to remind me of just how bloody marvellous it is - could anyone remind me why on Earth this never got a full release? Also as a fairly low key RS fan, aside from the albums that I do have, are there any choice b sides to look for on cd singles? Not so...

CHVRCHES - Screen Violence + Lauren Mayberry (Solo)

Well I guess it’s better than when I heard the snippets. But it’s just so bland - where is the edgy ness that is apparent in the best Chvrches tracks? I just gave ‘Final Girl’ a listen to remind me it’s the same singer. And isn’t it Lauren who does the lyrics too? Just because it’s stripped...

    Shoegaze (revival of sorts)

It’s rather fine isn’t it. ‘chained to a cloud’ is a pleasure to listen to, looking forward to when I can give it some proper volume on home stereo and not just through headphones.

    The Reissue Thread!

Agreed, box sets 1&2 will be sufficient for me too

    Shoegaze (revival of sorts)

First listen through with my morning coffee and it’s another thing of beauty from them. ‘Shanty’ is a wonderful start to the album. Full album YouTube link here if like me you aren’t getting your copy on release day (he says sadly)

    Shoegaze (revival of sorts)

If it’s any consolation I won’t be getting mine tomorrow either - preordered it with new Bleach Lab album and it’s being sent at same time beginning of October! Spotify it’ll be then…

    Older albums you're loving today.

I ‘blame’ @Eric Generic (cheers for the single EG!) for me fishing this off the shelf at the weekend for some old skool dance choons sounding great in the sun. Of course now it’s grey, raining and autumnal it’s back to my indie side and I’m playing Slowdive’s ‘Souvlaki’ album in anticipation of...
