Tonight’s 1986 repeat… George Michael had the Mullet From Hell there. To be fair, that was by far the longest his hair ever got, and it wasn’t like that for long. He’d had his hair cut shorter prior to Live Aid so I’m wondering if these were extensions?

Surely they’ll just get someone else to play Bobby in due course? He’s just a Ben or Peter isn’t he, after being replaced once they can keep on doing it? And an added bonus, they don’t even need to get an actor with the same hair colour.

    Olivia Newton John

Watching Eurovision 1974 on BBC Four… Olivia looked great (not sure about the dress - certainly stood out though) and David Vine said in his commentary at the end that she sold it well but… It was an awful song. And to be fair, Olivia all but said it herself. I know it’s on The Definitive...

    ABBA

Radio 2 listeners get to vote for their favourite ABBA song or something? Like it’s never been done before and can’t possibly be rigged so that, say, The Day Before You Came is in the top 10 thanks to some fans spending all day voting for it multiple times.

    ABBA

I wouldn’t consider that “huge” though, being as Radio 2 is primarily aimed at a UK audience. They really are setting this up for a huge disappointment so I’m not getting at all excited.

    ABBA

What might be more interesting is the “huge ABBA announcement”. As you can hardly get much more huge than a new album being released, this is setting it up for disappointment unless it delivers. Gary’s exact words were ““Tomorrow - huge ABBA announcement on this show plus a long-lost ABBA track”.

Another Ben Bites The Dust. Perhaps they’ll do a Peter Beale and bring an old one back next time. Who’s the favourite of all the speaking-part ones they’ve had?

Stacey’s comment to Kathy about not being the first to sleep with brothers was amusing but wondering how Stacey would know that about Kathy? Stacey wasn’t there for any of Kathy’s first stint, unless it came out when Kathy “died”. Stacey’s right though. Three of the six have done it. Four...

At first, I thought the new Johnny reminded me (in looks) of Harry Enfield’s Tim Nice-But-Dim character, but I think it’s actually the generic character from the titles of Harry Enfield’s Television Programme (1990-92). I can’t not un-see it.

    Top of the Pops BBC4

Sorry, I didn’t put that very well. He was still very popular on Radio 2 but for me it seemed like his whole style was stuck in an 80s time warp, with the things that actually made his show good in the 80s long gone. I found him almost unlistenable latterly. He ruined Pick of the Pops for me...

    Top of the Pops BBC4

My choices would be to bring back Paul Gambaccini for Pick of the Pops - sorry, but it seemed like they brought in Steve Wright to placate him for sacking him from the afternoon slot - and Angela Griffin for Sunday Love Songs. Steve Wright was brilliant on Radio 1 and that can’t ever be taken...

Very disappointed Sam’s left, and so soon after her return from a temporary departure. She seemed to be pulling that case around Albert Square for ages that I thought something would happen to change her mind. I suspect it won’t be too long before Kat goes back to Phil. And somehow I suspect...

Loving the On The Buses and The Rag Trade references in tonight’s show. A tribute to Anna Karen as much as Aunt Sal!

    WHAM!

Is this the new video clip it’s been cobbled together from? I agree, it does sound really good.

I got the CDs recently of Greatest Hits Vol 2 and Totally Hot. I didn’t need either of them but Amazon finally had them at reasonable prices - Vol 2 at under £9 and TH at under £10 - you never know when to go in nowadays as prices fluctuate on there so rapidly. Was half expecting them to be...

    EastEnders

Sorry, but Thomas Law is not going to last long as Peter Beale, even if this is his second stint. As with Ben Mitchell, he shouldn’t be getting comfy anyway as he can quickly be replaced again, but he’s not the best actor is he? And what’s going on with his accent, what’s it’s supposed to be...

    EastEnders

Probably what they used to call a “double-bank”, where one set of episodes with some characters was being filmed at the same time as another set with other characters (and a different production crew). It used to be done when they took location trips, but as they don’t tend to do those anymore...

    EastEnders

Again? When was he axed before? It was always a possibility though. There have been so many Bens, I’ve lost count. The last one, Harry Reid, was similarly axed. Max must have known not to get too comfy in the role. With the help of Wikipedia, the Bens were (speaking roles from 2006...

    EastEnders

It would seem that way. Tonight’s seemed pretty conclusive. Am I missing something? How on earth are they going to explain the body once it’s found (which can’t be that long)? Explain it as a coincidence - that he attacked Nish and then somehow got stabbed? And they handled the body with...

    EastEnders

There’s a thought. Could Rocky be the key to this? He still loves Kathy, and owes her. Could he take the blame for Keanu’s death once the body is found, so as to protect Kathy (and, by default, the other five)? Otherwise, the six’s story is not going to stand up. They’re blaming Keanu for...
