    Cher

Cher's I Found Someone is superior to Laura's and I love Laura. But Jennifer's Power of Love is better than both Celine and Laura's. Sorry. Not Sorry. And Cher's Save Up All Your Tears is better than Bonnie's and I love Bonnie.

    Cyndi Lauper

I so agree with this. The documentary is good up until True Colors. It falls apart after that. There is no insight into her working relationship with Rob and Rick post debut, how she felt about fame, that True Colors did underperform although it still did okay. And barely anything about...

    Cher

It is surprising considering If I Could Turn Back Time was such a massive hit and one of her most iconic songs. And it had a strong singles run.

    Whitney Houston

Don't think it's been mentioned but there is a new SACD of her first album. Kind of a quiet release (I had no idea it was being reissued and had no idea it was already out), but it's nice to see her albums being issued in audiophile formats.

    Horror films

Yeah, I was shocked by that. However I love the idea of them deconstructing the first four films although have no idea how they would do that but intriguing nonetheless.

Movie comments, outbursts, quips and general chatter

Can't believe it took me over 40 years to finally watch The Long Good Friday but watching it reminded me how much I miss Bob Hoskins. What a brilliant performance. And Dame Helen Mirren was stunning - taking a thinly-written role and bringing layers.

    Madonna

Wow, this is so fabulous. She looks incredible and the styling, makeup, lighting and overall aesthetic are stunning. It reminds me a little of her 1991 Rolling Stone cover and interview with Carrie Fisher.

    George Michael

Same here. I lived in Canada and it was hit after hit. I was surprised to learn later that the success in North America was not mirrored in the U.K. The Faith campaign was so massive that the wait between Faith and Listen Without Prejudice didn't seem that long, but still long enough to...

    Celine Dion

There is something about her early work that I prefer. The songs are lush and I adore the vocal production. I still love The Color of My Love, but the more bombastic sound started to settle in. Unison is a great album, and I appreciate Christopher Neil's contributions. He did a great job...

Any love for Martha and the Muffins?

I was in a shop north of Toronto and found a sealed copy of the Danceparc CD reissue. Their stuff is so rare to find and I say that as a Canadian...

    Madonna

That outro in the video is so good with Madonna and Danny Aiello contemplating the situation and the buildup of how Aiello will respond. Both the music and video telling a story and creating suspense and tension. Queen of Pop. Queen of Videos.

    Madonna

I remember that performance precisely because she hit some bad notes. But, wow, this rehearsal is incredible. She sounds great. But, yes, she is very nervous on TV. I wonder if it's because she is performing in front of her peers and not in the comfort zone of her fans. She rocked the...

    Bruce Springsteen

Great article from The Second Disc featuring an interview with Arthur Baker discussing his mixes of Dancing in the Dark. https://theseconddisc.com/2024/06/04/arthur-baker-born-in-the-usa-dance-remixes-interview/

    SYLVESTER

Oh. My. God. Definitely going to be one of the top releases of the year. Living Proof is one of my favourite albums and one of the best live albums of all time.

    Cyndi Lauper

I think Cyndi's biggest hits are some of the most streamed songs + nostalgia factor + healthy touring numbers for nostalgia + farewell will probably result in some good sales.

Girls Aloud - The Girls Aloud Show *SPOILERS*

Love reading this thread and reading the stories. I made a Girls Aloud playlist for iPod Classic as if this was 2006 and banger after banger. I wish I was able to see this tour but I'm happy for all the fans and it's great to see their music (and them!) celebrated.

    Desperate Housewives

I loved Lesley Ann Warren as Susan's mother. She looked like she could be Teri's mother and her comic timing was perfection and in line with Teri's (and the show's). I think all of them were perfectly cast.

    Horror films

I love The Fan. What I would give to have been a moviegoer in 1981 with both The Fan and Mommie Dearest in cinemas. Camp at its best. Agree with @Anjoel40 the Blu-ray extras are excellent. Nice to hear from Biehn talking about the making of the film, Bacall being difficult and the film not...

    The Reissue Thread!

Synchronicity box set coming by The Police. It looks incredible although I'm sure some will be disappointed with the lack of 5.1 surround. https://theseconddisc.com/2024/05/29/the-police-sychronicity-box-set/
