    Kim Wilde

Didn't know Kim had anything out but one of the songs popped up in my Apple Music new stuff mix last Friday. Just checked out the whole album. WOW! Great stuff! Wish I could see her but I'm thousands of miles away. I'll have to live vicariously through all your posts and pics.

    Kero Kero Bonito

"Only Acting" is amazing. I've had it on repeat for the past 24 hours.

    'Forgotten' Songs of the 1980's

This song was a minor hit in the US although apparently it went to #1 in Italy. I'm still obsessed with it 35 years later. So hooky. Writer/lead singer Jon Carin went on to have a huge career as a writer/producer/guest musician. I did my own cover version...

    Clubby dance-pop

I was recently listening to Sophie Ellis-Bextor's older stuff (Trip The Light Fantastic and Make A Scene) and it occurred to me that I haven't heard anything in that style of clubby vaguely 80s dance-pop lately. Anybody got any recs I should check out? I miss that stuff!

    Colourbox

I've been a massive fan since it all came out in the mid 80's. Love to know what you make of it!

    Goldfrapp - Silver Eye

Interesting perspective. I wanted to love "Tales Of Us" but it just never clicked for me. On the other hand, I liked Silver Eye immediately, and the more I listen to it, the more I love it. It might be their best album ever for me. It's certainly up there with Black Cherry, at least. Even...

    Yeah, I can see that.

    Goldfrapp - Silver Eye

I can't agree with that at all. It's sublime and beautiful. Swallows you up like the ocean.

    Goldfrapp - Silver Eye

Kate has such a crazy range of styles that pretty much anything sung by anyone will sound like something Kate did at some point. Was there a particular bit of Silver Eye that struck you as especially Kate-like? To me, it just sounds like Alison being Alison.

What are your top 10 favourite albums of the 80s?

I just did the top 10 70's thread and I could easily have filled it with only things from 1979.

Sylver Tongue (Charlotte Hatherley) - General Discussion

It's fantastic, isn't it? I was sad when she seemed to disappear after Sylver Tongue but this is getting me hyped again.

Charli XCX - Number 1 Angel (Mixtape) + Third Album

This is featured on the front page of US iTunes/Apple Music now. Cool! I didn't know she had a full length thing dropping. But, listening to it, I'm like... what the... this is AWFUL. What happened Charli!? So sad.

    Prince

FWIW, Purple Rain is my least favorite song on the album as well. I just like Prince when he's doing uptempo stuff better. My wife thinks the title track is possibly the best Prince track ever, she prefers his ballads. So go figure.

Spray - Enforced Fun (Fourth Album)

I just discovered Spray a few weeks ago thanks to Kid Kasio posting about his collab with them on his Facebook. I have been streaming their discography non stop ever since. Their lyrics/attitude are sort of jokey ala Freezepop (as the song titles give hint), but there's no joking around in the...

    Prince

It sounds like mid-80s Prince, which is what it is. Full of booming Linn drums and fat analog synths, that was just the sound of the era. Have you seen the film? It is gloriously 80s-tastic. I just watched a bit of it this weekend. So good. I was a teenager during the year of Purple Rain and it...

New Order – Music Complete (10th album)

Yeah, that is great. And you are right, the rest of the album is terrible. But their second album has one absolutely dynamite track....

    Apple Music

"My Music" is a cloud-synced list of all your "stuff". "Downloads" are files that are actually stored on the device and can be listened to without using cellular data or wifi. I download things to listen to in the car, then I remove the downloads later on without removing the music from the...

    Apple Music

Make sure you're on the My Music tab, with Library selected. Go to the top of the page. There's a "Recently Added" section, then a dividing line with "Artists" and a little downward-pointing triangle (chevron). Tap "Artists". It will give you a popup with choices for...
