Welcome to the ✦ 00s Indie Pop ✦ & ✖ 00s Indie Rock ✖ rates! And before anything else - yes, that's rates, plural, meaning these are two separate rates happening in the same thread, each with its own leaderboard, winner, 11, etc. This was decided as while they have some things in common, the two song lists are quite different, and I imagine some people might be interesting in taking part in one rate but not necessarily the other. Though of course I encourage everyone to give both a shot, each selection is quite short at just 35 songs, and both are full of classics.
As you can tell, these rates are focused on indie music from the 00s, but since that's a very broad term, let me specify - in the ✦ 00s Indie Pop Rate ✦ you'll find an assortment of folk-y, twee, retro and atmospheric songs (there are a lot acts that fit the "indie pop" umbrella, but I avoided including anything too noisy/experimental/intense, as it didn't really fit the vibe), a mix of classics and hidden gems, and a lot of songs that fall somewhere in between, it's overall a very pleasant but still engaging listening experience. On the other hand, the ✖ 00s Indie Rock Rate ✖ is full of 00s rock classics that often match any pop girl releases in terms of boppability. Both rates are mostly comprised of acts which I know would have a hard time ever showing up in another rate, so I thought it'd be fun to give them a bit of time in the spotlight in this corner of the forum, and have a look at a classic era in indie music, through a PopJustice lens.
Rules: Rate the songs (either from one of the rates or both) on a scale of 0-10, with your favourite getting an 11 (that's one 11 for each rate if you participate in both). In terms of decimals, please stick to 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75.
Commentary is very welcome - please share your favourites memories, live moments, or just random thoughts on these songs and acts. I intend for this to be a fairly breezy rate, so the idea is keeping the write-ups pretty brief, so commentary would really help fill them out.
Voting deadline:September 26 23:59 BST October 3 23:59 BST

Final watch2gether: September 19 16:00 BST
