I will say at the very least the result have been wild in a refreshing way!

"Refreshing"? This is going down just like every versus rate @soratami hosts. @soratami, you seem to attract voters with very "special" opinions. I haven't hit the same rage levels as the Quirky Pop Rates, but I'm sure it's coming with some of the rotten commentary I'm reading.

Well, there was a 5 point difference between the two, which was also the score you gave Bruises, so as long as you gave scored Bruises higher than 0, it would always beat Secret, and if you had given it a 0, it would have been a tie.

Time for yet another tie, the third so far, and the first of the two last songs to miss the indie pop top 20 is Laura Veirs's Don't Love Yourself, another song that wasn't very divisive, with nearly everyone enjoying it to some extent, but only a handful of people actually giving it high scores.

Laura Veirs is a singer-songwriter from Portland who has released eleven solo studio albums between 1999 and 2020, as well as one with fellow rate artist Neko Case and Canadian legend k.d. lang, as case/lang/veirs, in 2016. Don't Lose Yourself was taken from her sixth album, Saltbreakers, released in 2007. Now, despite meaning to do so for years, I never got around to exploring Laura's solo discography, so I can't really say much about it, and if I'm being honest case/lang/veirs was probably the main reason I thought of including her in the rate, as I really love their album, and thought it would be cool to have two artists from the trio featured in the rate. I embedded two of the songs from it bellow, one (Atomic Number) where the whole trio sings, and the other (Best Kept Secret) where Laura takes the lead, both of which would have made for great inclusions in the rate, if it weren't for that little detail that they weren't released in the 00s. Hopefully there are some Laura stans among the voters who will be willing to share some of her solo discography highlights!

@DominoDancing (4.5) “Speaking of completely unnecessary annoying beats, this has the Frou Frou song beat by a lot.”

@berserkboi (6.5) “Nice song while it lasts” Does it start being bad when it's over?

@DJHazey (7.5) “If it wasn’t for the piano transitions and other means of driving the song from point A to B, this was headed for a mediocre score. Her vocals aren’t very interesting to my ears and the chorus is barely there, but I’m a sucker for this instrumental.”

@daninternational (8) “New to me, and really lovely (or maybe I'm just in a better mood today ddd)”

Commentary Guessing Game
Don't Lose Yourself

@Maki & @Phonetics Girl:
13. “The much too busy production is really distracting here. I could definitely see this work a lot better with a more restraint arrangement.”

Another song that wasn't in the guessing game, though the commentary @Maki and @Phonetics Girl guessed actually is pretty similar to @DominoDancing's commentary for Don't Lose Yourself.
