my 11?????????
Monster! Vile! Demon!
I mean, I'm not surprised my 11 was the first one to leave and I'm quite glad it ended up in a fairly good position, but stILL.
Despite it being my 11, it's quite complicated to comment about this entry because it's full of traditional elements that I'm not familiar with and internet didn't help me as much (I found out a behind the scenes video of it but guess what??? It's in Korean!!!! Guess who doesn't speak a word of Korean????????????? Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone knows a bit of it, enjoy, I guess).
"Dara Dara", translated in Apple Music as "Moon Moon", is one of the singles from "I Love Natural", AVA's 4th album - and my personal favorite. I consider it the most "traditional" song in her discography, as it's a perfect mix of traditional/folk and techno. Some instruments such as gayageum and one of the flutes (daegeum, maybe? it doesn't sound like a piri by dreamcatcher) are evident and they bring such a charm to the song, plus it's usually the kind of sound I enjoy in folk music*
*DISCLAIMER: I know some people might think I hate folk and its subgenres because of... reasons, but that's not true!!!!! I'm not gonna lie it's usually hit or miss. To be honest, it mostly depends on the subgenre? I'm not into celtic folk, for example. ~East Asian folk is more palatable to my ears because I'm used to it from eastern media (yes, I mean animes and games ddddd). When mixed with techno and trance music, it just becomes even better!!!!!
I tried to find out what kind of dance inspired her choreography and outfit, but I'm not sure about this because people wear those kinds of long gloves in several types of dance. According to the reliable source called some random commenter translated on google, it comes from mask dance and puppet dance.
ANYWAY, in short, I adore the elements, I adore the video, the choreography, the outfit, the techno part... pretty much everything. It's either my favorite or my second favorite song of hers, because I can't properly decide between it and "Q", also from the same album.
It was good while it lasted.
