I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan of his tunes in general (I don't think they're bad, just not my style), but overall I tried to vote based on the merits of the songs more than if I just wasn't that into them, and I didn't score his tracks that low.

I'm always a little bit wary of people posting strong opinions against or in favour of an artist during the voting period. It can sometimes prompt a backlash in scores from other voters.
Also, I've just noticed that 116 people voted in the poll in this thread. If the rate is really going to be that big, then a single person's ballot isn't going to make that much of a difference.

I'm pretty much in favour of everything so far (as usual), but since he's the only one I know at least some people have a negative opinion of, he's the one I'm worried for. I mean, yeah, Blue Neighborhood is amazing, but it doesn't have as many straight up BOPS that are kinda sexy that Bloom has, and sometimes that's all I want from him.
I never really paid much attention to Troye and My My My! didn't click with me at all (and it still doesn't to be honest) so I pretty much ignored the Bloom album/era (aside from the kiis in his thread), but I do think he has quite a strong selection of songs here. Bloom and Dance to This especially are rate highlights for me.

I’m just really hoping we’re all respectful and looking to praise the material as opposed to shred it. Pretty much everything on here has something to love, and the whole LGBTQ theming and everything... I’m just hoping the thread is more... inherently fun and lighthearted as opposed to, say, the BPG rate.

Thanks so much for saying this cause it really is my M.O. for this rate! I want this to be more a celebration of the great music than a chance to drag someone for likes. So far all the ballots I've received are very fair even when it's clear a certain artist isn't for someone. Given the variety of genres and sounds, I fully expect that. However, I don't expect a bunch of 0's or just straight 3's and so far that hasn't been the case so thank you all for being amazing!

I have listened to these songs on earphones, on speakers, in a good mood, in a bad mood, on shuffle, in sequence... and I’ve finally voted.
Some of these songs really grew on me on repeated listens - sometimes they just needed the right acoustics or the right mood. Everything I’ve rated an 8 or over that I didn’t already know is going straight on my other Spotify playlists. It’s been a really good rate for discoveries!

I'd like to say I'm ready to submit, but I'm still thinking of editing out half my commentary cause I feel so negative at the moment. At least I'm settled on my scores. MNEK, Janelle, and Chris are my holy trinity, but the 11 belongs to an extra. I'm just so not ready nn.
The field in this rate is INCREDIBLY strong. Very few songs are outright bad, with the 'lows' being simply generic, low-impact pop songs and wishy-washy '~queer synth pop~', which still boast redeeming qualities (mainly vocals, hooks and/or production values). The vast majority of my scores for the extras were 6-8, which is a testament to the overall quality of the rate.
I think the bottom line is that even the most generic and seemingly unimpressive songs in the rate are enriched by the element of queer representation and storytelling.
