He/Him
Me when 3 different SOPHIE songs describing her navigating through her identity as a trans woman are chucked out in the bottom ten because people would rather hear Twinke Sivan whisper white gay nothings

PREACH IT
Garbage, flower-throwing, tuneless, devoid of vocal talent, tired bottom Troye Sivan CANNOT and will NEVER relate

Every time I come back here there's more drama, this rate is going to be a delight!

I don't think this song deserved to go so early but like, it is pretty weird so I get that it's not for everyone. What I don't get is why anyone needs to come for Troye so hard, I don't really know anything about the kid but it's not his fault he's a popular white gay, ya feel? Let him live. Unless he's done some problematic shit I don't know of, then by all means continue to drag him ... but no one's coming for Halsey's head here so I'm guessing that's not the issue.

I mean, Troye’s had his missteps this year, but they’re basically limited to that infamous White Gay Brunch and getting Kim Petras to open for him on tour (both of which I have views on but are still not Sam “I discovered racism and gay rights!” Smith levels of problematic).

None of that excuses trying to insult someone by calling them a “tired bottom”. Why are we bottom-shaming in 2019 in this thread?

What, you saw the rest of the insults in that sentence and thought “Hey, ‘tired bottom’ is clearly the compliment in that post”?
I never thought I would see a term like bottom-shaming on popjustice dot com aka the forum where all but 6 gays are bottoms.

If you wanna hate on Sophie go ahead, but then don't get pressed when someone has a kii about Troye.

You really don’t see anything problematic about using ‘tired bottom’ as an insult?
Compared to the extreme and complex examples of internalized homophobia I see in the gay community on an hourly basis, something like tired bottom felt like nothing to get upset about, personally. PM me if you wanna discuss it further cus I feel bad derailing the thread.

So... because there are worse examples of internalised homophobia out there, there’s no point objecting to lower-level examples of it?

Riiiiight.

Maybe we should stay away from ad hominem attacks on the artists in this rate. Nobody here criticised Sophie as a person - the only objections appear to have been to the song itself. If people want to come for Troye’s music, that’s one thing, but let’s not get too crazy about tearing into him as a person given the spirit of the rate.
