Today we lose a track from the main artist who is losing three tracks before #25! It's gonna be one of our boys but which one??
Wait if the main boys have still these

Troye Sivan “My My My!”
Troye Sivan “Bloom”

Ssion “Comeback”

MNEK “Tongue”
MNEK “Correct”

Years & Years “All For You”
Years & Years “Up In Flames”

does it mean one of them doesn't even touch the top20?

Ahh sorry for the confusion! I was referencing some old tea from the Top 36/Top 30 recap. I had said one main artist would lose 3 tracks from 36 to 25. MNEK, Troye, and Olly have all lost 2 songs since #36 and the next elimination will be one of them. Hope that clears it up!

Okay yeah, if MNEK loses Tongue or Correct I'm gonna throw down.

I put my money on Correct then. I didn't see much praise for it and it's my second lowest score left

Our next elimination come from Maite Oronoz Rodríguez who is the first openly gay Chief Justice of Puerto Rico and the third woman to hold the role!

I flex like Aretha so please show me some respect
I am blessed with my reefer
Miss me with that jolly mess
You hear the bass through the speakers, now you wanna hear the rest
(Who wrote this song?
Who made this beat?)
Well, take a guess

In one of the greatest injustices of the rate, the absolute BOP that is "Correct" leaves us before the Top 20. I really wish I had just upped my score to a perfect 10 cause I'm crushed this is leaving us already. I'll admit that when the song first dropped, I was on the fence about it but over times it's honestly become one of my favorite upbeat songs in recent memory. I mean MNEK's charismatic delivery gives me life! I find myself referencing the song within my daily life, especially when I feel like queening it up. I truly feel bad for those of you who don't feel like a complete diva (the female version of a hustla of a of a hustlahhh) when listening to "Correct!"

In discussing the release of his album with Billboard, MNEK singled "Correct" out as a song he found really important to him:

Can you share one or two of those things that were really important?

Well, I really wanted to touch on love from a male perspective. I wanted to touch on how it can be extremely complicated and at the same time it can be great. I also wanted to touch on self confidence. “Correct” is a song and an exercise for me where I’ve been able to reclaim who I am and the good that I’ve done when in real life sometimes I struggle with that. I struggle with owning what I’ve been able to achieve at a young age. So “Correct” is to lift people and make them feel comfortable with themselves so they can feel like the boss bitch that I’m trying to be on the song. I want to tell my stories with this album, but I want people to feel a part of it as well. I don’t want it to be self indulgent.
The confidence rings so clear in "Correct" and makes me feel indestructible. He expanded upon the writing of "Correct" with DIY Magazine:

“I wanted to try the exercise of going full hip-hop and going full-on LA state of mind, and being grandiose, talking about all my achievements, and owning it,” he says. “I listened back to it and thought that, actually, there’s nothing wrong with this, because I’m saying what’s happening, and that’s something I’m trying to approach life-wise as well. When I’m talking to a guy, I’m scared to talk about what I’ve done with my day because he’ll go ‘Ooh fancy, look at you!’. I can only talk about my life, because it’s happening and I’ve earned it.”
Now before anyone starts questioning what MNEK has done let's do a quick breakdown: hired as a songwriter at 14, had a Top 20 duet with Zara Larson with "Never Forget You," has written songs with Madonna, X-tina, and more, and finally he co-wrote "Hold Up" with BEYONCE!!!!!!!!!!! Like BEYONCE!? And he's still not sure of himself!?

In the DIY interview, he also spoke eloquently about the experience of coming out and how it's a process not a moment. Which let me repeat for those in the back COMING OUT IS A PROCESS!!! Anyways, here's what he had to say:

Me and my friends, we are…” he begins, before pausing. “People think that when you come out, suddenly the next day you’re going to become this completely different person. But it develops and it grows in different ways. Your mindset, your approach to your gay… sometimes even when you come out as gay, you still have the shame. The shame of coming across too feminine. And then you edit yourself in certain environments. But then at some point, you can just have an ‘Aha!’ moment, and realise that actually, I don’t need to edit myself anywhere. I guess I’ve had that switch.”

I felt this was important to include cause how could someone who co-wrote with BEYONCE! feel a lack of confidence in his work and because "Correct" is such an unapologetically queer anthem! The video is fantastic (it turns me into a 2008 drag queen yelling "Fierce!" and "Werq!" at the screen). But it's so important to remember that that type of self-expression is hard earned and no amount of confidence can deny the necessary vulnerability in such a bold act.

Now which of you came correct?
Untouchable Ace The Middle 8 onwards should have been the whole song.
Posh Spears Okay my flop ass hadn’t seen the video before this rate and whew... miss thang SERVED!
untitled oh, so now we're in the empowerment territory. can't deny the pussy-popping quality this possesses
Pop3blow2 Solid bop, here.
Constantino @BEST FICTION certainly came correct when she collected poor Miss Emma Knee-Kay on Twitter over his Xtina shade nn. What a banger, though.
Yuuurei This keeps growing on me, it's fun. The kind of song I'd blast while driving around with my best friend
Ufint I’m sure this is something the UKayTeens love, but it’s not my cup of tea.
CorgiCorgiCorgi this song makes me feel like an unstoppable badass
The Hot Rock An absolute bop.
Kalonite I always forget how many diferent directions this goes in, but it really is a wild ride in the second half.

In lieu of commentary, I’m just going to quote the relevant section of my review of Language for the PJ Advent Calendar:

The intro then leads straight into Correct, which is the most wonderfully assertive statement of intent I could have asked for here. He makes no bones about lines like "I was making flames before Year 7 begun / I was getting paid before I was getting drunk", but the highlight is the middle eight, which gives us this section:

So if everyone figures
Your head is getting bigger
Fuck them, they don't know shit
You've earned it, so own it
Black kings we sit proud on our thrones

before launching straight into a spoken section that repeats the line "Stay fabulous honey". We're not even two songs into the album and it's obvious that, not only is MNEK a Personality with a capital P, this is an album that's both authentically queer and unapologetically black. In a country where non-white voices have to speak louder to be heard and then are told they're "aggressive" or "angry" when they do so, and where the few popular LGBT artists are uniformly white, it's a thing of beauty to hear a queer black man embracing his queerness and his blackness on record while also adopting the swagger and storytelling that normally seems reserved for heterosexual rappers.

Hello everyone!
So clearly, rate hosting is not my strong suit so I'm here to get y'all's opinion. How would you all feel if from here on out, the elimination posts come in larger batches with more or less just the scores and commentary for the main artists? I'll still give the extra's their time to shine and work on write ups for the main artists to give you all the quotes and interviews your heart desires. If you're signed up for a guest elimination that is still all yours and you can do whatever you want with it! (and in case anyone cares we will still have a Queer Icon for every entry).

I think if I try to keep up with the size of eliminations we have right now I'll be doing this all summer and I want to be down by July 4th (I'm on vacation with minimal internet starting July 5). BUT I want to hear from you all! Any suggestions or feedback?

Fine with me! The main artists are more well known anyway and they pop up multiple times in the rate.
