67th GRAMMY Awards

It was a great show. Nitpicking over this or that win aside, a great slate of nominees and performances. A far cry from that ex-president telling women to step up to the illustrious lineup of Gaga, Beyoncé, Taylor, Chappell, Charli, Billie, Sabrina, Doechii. The only thing I would change is having some more awards and genres represented in the live broadcast. How about dance/electronic? R&B? Rock? Even folk/Americana. As Hex Hector said, it's a gateway to finding new artists and seeing what the cream of the crop was in other genres.

I also think they could at least announce a couple more winners in some bigger categories. But what seems important to us may not be what is important to others. Why dance/electronic and not classical recording then for example? But yes, they could somehow put a couple more categories in it.

Great, great show last night, it felt like something shifted in the whole organisation of the event. BUT was everbody contractually obliged to mention the 13.000 voters? I feel like I heard that about as many times last night.

Reflecting upon it, it really felt like a missed opportunity not to have Beyonce perform this year. No idea if she was asked and declined, of course. But, assuming, for a moment, that she wasn't asked, it's a shame. I mean, God bless Quincy Jones, but could we have not cut five minutes out of that tribute and given it to, arguably, the greatest pop star of her generation?

These days, very few artists who make it to the mainstage seem to have an interest in big, statement songs. Lyrically/thematically, most of the songs are very inward looking and specific to the artists themselves. I love that specificity, of course, but who better to make a statement through her music (rather than just through acceptance speeches) than Beyonce?

Beyonce has such a special touch -- an ability to write and perform songs that are innately about and for her and which, yet, also have potent, universal themes for the larger society. How timely would a performance of American Requiem have felt?

Maybe in Renaissance's year, she wasn't quite ready for a live performance yet. But, obviously, given what we saw on Christmas, she was more than ready to give a live performance from Cowboy Carter.

Ah, well, there is the tour!

It seems unfair that Beyonce received the AOTY for Cowboy Carter because it was “overdue” even though AOTY should have gone to Renaissance and not Midnights last year. Why is Charli suffering the poor judgments of the panel from years past? Just amend the rules and give them both AOTY.
Midnights didn’t beat Renaissance for AOTY - Harry’s House did. This is the second time someone has made this mistake in the last few pages…what kind of Mandela Effect is going on in here?

It was an impressive showing for the ladies.
