Naaaur, I really wanted my 11 to win again this year! Once again SF9 released a definitive boy group bop and came really close to the crown, but it wasn't meant to be. We only have one piece of commentary for this, so let's get it out of the way. @boombazookajoe (8,5): “This song and SF9 really escaped me last year somehow, but this song is bop city. Chorus slaps.”
This came out right after SF9's stint on Kingdom. Man, I love how minimalistic this is, their producers were ahead of their time considering the recent 4th girl group debuts! The instrumental leaves plenty of room for the main synth (unfairly called "fart-y" by the voters of KSOTY!) to shine, but all that space is also filled with plenty of hooks and some really gentle, delicate vocals that match the bittersweetness of the lyrics. The beat is chic and fashion but there's heart to their performance... even the raps feel extremely essential to me here!
As for visuals, the music video is a slay. I love all the sets, the CGI and camera tricks... there's no storyline, just a bunch of cool beauty shots with some minimal choreography for the chorus. I needed more Rowoon screentime though! And as for stages... yeah, you've all seen the Taeyang armpit gifs.
