90's Dance Classics Thread v2.0

  1. From the old new old-new board.

The other night I ripped out the ace Source track "Sanctuary Of Love"... anyone remember that?!

Such a corker of a choon.
  2. Maradonna - Out of My Head

Simple, italo-piano house keys and a choral, stuttered refrain.  In my opinion, packs quite a whollop if that's yo thang.
  3. Oh bugger I just remembered I was going to go on a download spree with suggestions from the previous thread.. which has disappeared into cyberspace :(

I haven't heard that in years. Must dig out my copy.

Is it safe to mention the Trance word here? I used to love the mid to late 90s Trance stuff, until it went a little stale. Union Jack, (early) Paul Van Dyk, Rising High and Bonsai. Great stuff!
  5. I was given the Hacienda Classics boxset for my birthday and damn if there isn't some wonderful stuff on there - Space Face by Sub Sub and Rhythm Is A Mystery by K-Klass were new to me but they're fantastic.

Also, I recently got hold of a 2002 Ministry Of Sound comp, Back To The Old Skool. Although I disapprove of the title spelling, literally every track on there is an all-out classic.

  6. Yes! I was such a Trance fan (obvious progression I guess from the early 90's dance I bombarded myself with), the days when Paul Van Dyk was good, Armin Van Buuren wasn't boring and pretty much everything on Bonsai was superb.

So indeed, I think Trance can very easily be discussed in the 90's dance classics thread, yes.

Oh good! It's not generally held in high regard is it?

I forgot to mention Rising High as well, who in their prime were pretty much untouchable (Platipus had its moments as well). I used to listen to those compilations endlessly. Caspar Pound's mix of 'Two Full Moons & A Trout' is quite simply breathtaking, and I can't believe it's thirteen years old!

Has anyone heard the Bedrock mix of 'Cowgirl' by Underworld. Best remix ever!
  8. Oh god yes. SUCH a corker.

Speaking of Caspar Pound, remember "Fever Called Love"?? Now THAT was just mind blowing on the dancefloor.

  10. I love you AcerBen. What a list.

Surely everyone here remembers AB Logic, yes? Although I loved "The Hitman", i still think their self titled single was their best. Eurodance bliss it was. I'm fairly sure they had a few other singles after that but nothing that really set the charts on fire here in Australia anyways.
  11. Hey, if we can just posts lists of our faves, here's mine (hey, it's past midnight and I can't sleep, what else am I supposed to do?)

  14. Did anybody ever give any love to Linear's "Sending All My Love" in the old thread? I love that song.
  15. Can't remember, but I do know it's a fave of mine.

I heard AB Logic's "AB Logic" the other day - had completely forgotten how brilliant it was. Thought it was much better than "Hitman".
  16. Oh Adem, if you could track down the Almighty Edit of Alexia's Uh La La La that would be amazing. I can only ever find the reggae-lite original. It is amazing how she used to look - singing the thumping Me & You is like 2 very different dance divas (I was shocked by the dreads; almost as if Faye had never happened).
  17. Don't get your hopes up too high, but I'm fairly sure I may still have that on either vinyl or CD single somewhere... will try and have a look around this weekend for you.
  18. Oh not to worry, I meant the video.  I've got a few of her CD's plus she's easy to download.

I seem to remember it was Italy's official world cup song.  I got 1 of the singles, which has #10 written on it, my habit at the time of writing down peak chart positions.  The first time I heard her on the radio I thought she was black and must have been extremely large.  Not so long ago now, I heckled in a charity shop to buy her Gimme Love single for 50p instead of 95 - I really don't know why, I must have been short.

    I think she should do Eurovision - can't believe she's now 40.
  19. She's now 40? Seriously?
