  1. It’s been good to read positive comments on here about Two For The Price of One. Not something I’ve been used to!

  2. I hate you for putting that out there.

  3. For me it’s the hilarious oompah band at the end which elevates the joke and makes this song brilliant and bonkers.

  4. Oh my god it's brilliant! Genius IMO

  5. Let’s make it worse. I saw a meme the other day that paired Frida’s ‘Do I have it in me?’ line in with the caption ‘When your partner has a small penis’ nn.

    I howled.

  6. My boyfriend randomly likened it to this dog and so sings "tell me what was in there" over all the "do I have it in me's"

  7. Yes, always liked this one alot too. It's fun.

  8. Belinda Blumenthal the house down.

    Knowing Me, Knowing You

ABBA listeners, however, may not be who you think they are. Though the band was at its peak in the ’70s and ’80s, its base on Spotify skews younger. People ages 18 to 24 stream the band the most on Spotify, and they’ve been streaming more every year—increasing their listening by over 50% since 2014. It’s clear that ABBA’s songs transcend their time to become lasting favorites—not only for the generation that first fell in love with them, but for those who came after.

Not sure how this would translate into willingness to buy tickets and travel for a limited tour in the Brexit country... While the musical, movie, tribute acts all 'compete' with the ABBA brand I think.

It does translate well to sales tho, did they not get 70k pre-orders in UK already or so?

The amount of times I heard parties go near the end of the time and they play ABBA dancing queen in the clubs or parties here is literally over half of the times there's a party. Young people really love em.

  10. Random but: the songs are copyrighted to "1221 AB" (where AB is the Swedish equivalent of Inc./Ltd/SàRL/GmbH) which at first I was assuming was just a numbered company (especially because I thought until just this moment that it was "2021 1221 AB" before realising that it meant 2021 was the copyright year; mess), but if we use the old A=1, B=2, Z=26 code on it, what do we get?

    Their minds.

  11. Yes, I assumed the same thing.

Sensible of them to do that so they retain some rights to the new music. They originally owned rights to all their work through their shared ownership of Polar Music International AB, but sold their shares in the 1980s, which were eventually bought by Polygram. I think each member of ABBA had 12.5% shares, with Stig Anderson owning the other 50%.

Presumably, they each have 25% of the new company.

  12. Any PJ posters got tickets to the show?

  13. I just discovered should I laugh or cry….how did I miss this gem? I’m obsessed with the production and the haunting vocals

  14. Might not be a popular opinion. But "Does Your Mother Know?" is a bop.

  15. This is the only ABBA song I really dislike. Probably just because it’s a Björn led song dddd.

I heard Don’t Shut Me Down today on the radio when I was getting my hair cut and bopped silently - great to hear it out in the wild.

  16. Frida’s ‘ he’s such a clever guy’ line is the epitome of suppressed spite .. amazing

  17. Getting my life today.

That instrumental swell into the burst of Don't Shut Me Down's gigantic second chorus is a thing of real beauty. It really stirs up the emotion, it's so perfectly executed.

And this lyric is so simple, yet perfect in every way:

I'm not the one you knew
    I'm now and then combined
And I'm asking you to have an open mind
I won't be the same this time around
I'm fired up, don't shut me down

God, it's just so fucking good. I love them.

  18. I work in a school and some kids do Rowing (the school is known for it) super early right by my office. I was in early myself today and had a huge grin on my face as they rowed and sang (!) at the same time, at the top of their lungs, to Dancing Queen and Knowing Me Knowing You. The power of ABBA’s catalogue simply cannot be overstated. These songs are essentially cross-generational cultural pillars.
