I think what's so great about Abbott is how much it's leaned into its own brand of humor and comedy since it's been renewed each season and found new viewers. I think Quinta really pays attention to how it's been received and it's only grown more confident in its development ever since. It's one of the few bright spots that we have in scripted TV right now, and especially with a cast that's so strongly Black.

It is the only good sitcom on TV.

Wait WHAT!! I absolutely thought this was a one-off "hey let's bring these assholes back for a fun lil project," surely it's been on almost as long as fookin Grey's Anatomy.
It premiered in August 2005, just five months after Grey's - albeit with shorter seasons and longer gaps between them.

There are two more seasons still to come and I'm really hoping that's where they end it - the show still has its moments but its best days are behind it.

Every time I notice there's new episode(s) of season 4 my heart feels joy. I just checked Wikipedia and it looks like there will be enough Abbott to get me though to leaves blooming on trees. Life is good.

Highlights of recent episodes:
- Jacob should've finally let his anger out on Morton during the science fair, what a nasty hoe he revealed himself to be!

- Ava slayed so hard at the district budget meeting. I love when we see her save the day without compromising a single thing about herself; even when she's put in situations where she's made to feel "less than" she never accepts the invitation and flips it on a bitch instead.

- Janine kills me every episode. She's such a dork, and I love how that's canon by this point but you see this entire community really believe in her and each other even if they find her endless optimism exhausting. The "aww you do love me" b-plotline between her and Gregory in the most recent episode was almost grotesquely sweet, but the Janines and Gregorys of the world deserve that effortless connection with someone who will help them thrive so I try to keep my own pressed self in check dd.

I'm a happy Little Abbottster.

Might have been my favorite episode this season. So simple but so many layers. Loved seeing Ava finally pull the facade back for O’Shon and let him in; he’s such a great character because he knows Ava is putting on a character to protect herself.

Jacob was the star though; that song choice was hysterical and how he turned off his usual happy mood and got dark a little was funny.
