As much as I ready myself to drag Ariana everytime she opens the twitter app on her phone nowadays, I get why she's locked down the Top 3. Would I personally have picked those 3 songs? Probably not, but in a rate like this, it's only natural that's what gonna finish in first place.

Yeah, all the songs in the Top 3 deserve to be here in some way or another even if I would prefer "Apeshit" or "Accelerate" over "Breathin'", and I say that as someone who was getting hip to Ariana acting a damn fool while the rest of you were still like, "lmao piggy smallz in a video! she hates this legitimately great pop song LOL. her mind!" and shielding her in bubble wrap because DO YOU KNOW how hard the last few years have been for her?!

The first two singles really were just flawlessly chosen, flawlessly presented, flawlessly timed, flawlessly made... everything, which if anything just made what has followed even more frustrating. Like, how did you fuck things up this badly?

No Tears and God battling to the death for #1 is iconic, well deserved, and was the obvious endgame from day 1 of this rate. It could go either way and it would be such a gag if they tied or something.

The only mistake was letting Breathin slip into the top 3 over Accelerate, but I'm not mad at this final 5.

This top 3 was obvious from the get go you're all doing far too much. No Tears Left To Cry and Breathin ugh what a top 2.

The real upset of the rate was Nicki acting a damn fool and that negatively impacting Chun-Li's performance in this rate. In isolation, it should have been top 10 at worst.

Not even close. Breathin’ is a decent bop with an obtuse hook and some churning electronic production. It slaps but it was better on the 5+ PJ fave songs before it that did essentially the same thing but with more than a one word chorus. God is a Woman devours it handily.

Are we really that shocked though, it happens literally every rate. The only one I can immediately think of where an album track won is the Sugababes discography rate.

Nah. Apeshit, thank u next and Shallow were all big, attention grabbing singles. Accelerate was the first big song from Christina in more than half a decade. I Like It, The Middle, and Never Be The Same were all MASSIVE songs, top 20 on the year-end charts. That's plenty zeitgeisty.

You all chose these three songs as the top three because they're amazing and excellently constructed pop songs. To move the goalposts now is just lying to yourselves, frankly. I get that we're all shocked and saddened at the very notion of giving perfect scores to an imperfect person, but I'm sure y'all will find a way to deal.
