Addison Rae - "High Fashion" + Debut Album

he/him
I think that’s what makes her so good, she’s striking the perfect sweet spot between off-kilter and accessible.

Exactly. And I honestly do think it's a pretty difficult thing to pull off, especially when she's still very pop. Obviously it's an exhausting comparison, but it is something Britney was a master at doing with her deep cuts (and even some singles!). It's not something that was common back then, and it's not very common right now when it comes to the other girls tapping into more obvious lanes for nostalgia.

Obsessing how on the nose and vulgar it is.

Like 'yeah the song is about drugs SO HERE! TAKE ALL OF THESE SHOTS OF ME SNORTING AND EATING COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF WHITE POWDER! AND ACTING CRAZY IN A BURNING FIELD! AND GETTING ALL SWEATY IN AN UNDISCLOSED DODGY RAVINE! and..SHOES! BECAUSE IT'S CALLED HIGH FASHION!!!'

She's funny and she gets it. The song sounds like a nightmare (complimentary).

I liked very much her first two singles and like this one a lot too. Her music is very interesting and actually good. I havent really connected with the new up and comers lately, but Addison is ticking all the right boxes. Get it girl!

She's certainly one of the most interesting women in pop right now. Both the song and the video are an enigma to me.

I agree with the takes I've been seeing here and elsewhere online that she captures the essence of Britney not just in a surface-level way, but in the way she makes pop music with the same mentality as her - as a playground to explore sensually charged unorthodox ideas.

For some reason I thought she was going to announce the album tonight. Fingers crossed she'll get it out before JADE at least. Too much pop excellence waiting to be released.

It's crazy to think just a couple years ago I would've considered myself a certified Addison hater. I thought she had no business attempting to be a pop star, didn't have much talent, and I didn't understand what Charli saw in her at all. But she dropped the formulaic wannabe act and really has found her own sound and identity this past year.
