Adele - 30

I feel like a lot depends on this next album for her, no? She's gonna have to go a long way to prove she's not just another Norah Jones.
She's definitely surpassed Norah Jones. Adele is somewhat of a pop culture icon purely for the way the media acts whenever she pops up. She has multiple 10+million selling singles on top of the massive albums. Adele actually has songs that every demographic can name and recite lyrics to. I dare say that Norah Jones' music is forgotten.

I'm not a stan but she's nothing left to prove on this next record, and even if she can't be arsed doing one, she'd still be considered legendary from her sales alone. From just three albums. The music industry's financial year actually suffered when she delayed her last album. If that's not iconic I don't know what is.

Nah her legacy is cemented commercially and with the GP but dare I say she does have a lot riding on the next album critically.

I can’t see reception being favorable if her sound and lyrical content doesn’t evolve with the next album. I feel like she managed to avoid a more severe mauling with 25 due to hype from her comeback after her breakout era (Something something reputation. chai)

I think a lot of the flack she gets on here is purely based on her success. She’s talented, she’s captivating, and “Hello” was a moment I don’t think I’ll ever forget. It was perfect. And I’m obviously not alone in that.

With that being said, I think it is too soon for her next album. I think Fall 2019 is realistic in terms of there being enough anticipation again. I’m not sure if there will ever be the anticipation there was for ‘25’ ever again. What a time to be alive and witness that!

Also. Aren’t comments like “Keep it” forbidden on this forum? It gets tiresome seeing the same people continually post the same garbage over and over in attempt to be seen as witty or something.

The fact 25 was as huge as it was means that she has nothing left to prove. She had a huge amount of momentum coming from her second album, but that doesn't explain quite how massive her last album was.

If anything, I think delivering a follow-up to 21 will have freed her creatively now that she has nothing left to prove. She could never record again and go down as a legend. That's why it wouldn't surprise me if she experiments with her sound or does more uptempos. She listens to a lot of music and is very self-aware. She'll know that anything too ballad heavy will box her-in for the rest of her career.
