Welcome to the 2024 edition of biggest sub-forum staple that isn't a chart, rate or song contest - the album log. I think everyone knows how this works by now, but idea is to use this thread to keep track of the albums you listen to for the first time year.


You can (but aren't required to):

This time I'll try to go through everything weekly with the help of my last.fm account. I've had a goal in mind since last year to try and listen to albums from every decade that are or will be at least 10 years old in 2024, so albums from 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004 and 2014. Hoping I have a lot of fun.

I'm gonna set my goal at 250 albums this year. Will be posting my first update later.

I decided to finally play the albums that I've wanted to for a long time during work. And here are the ones I checked on day 1:

#1 Hayley Kiyoko - Panorama : This is a cute girl. I loved her debut so much but forgot about checking this one when I read the opinions on here. I didn't miss much I guess but I still liked it.


#2 Aly & AJ - With Love From : My first A&A album. The first few tracks were really great. I'll probably check their music more regularly from now on.


#3 Rina Sawayama - Hold the Girl : The best album of today and the one that got me like "how the fuck did I miss this?". Specially since I already knew a few songs. When that X-Static Process instrumental was being playing, a stan was born.



#4 Christina Aguilera - AGUILERA : Xtina always understands the assignment and this was no exception. I would probably put it as her fifth best album, but only because her discography is so strong.

#5 Troye Sivan - Blue Neighbourhood : There were a few great songs in this (mostly in the second half) but I think I like his latter albums more than this.


#6 Robyn - Honey : The best album of today. I should check her music more regularly.


#7 PinkPantheress - to hell with it : I think I would enjoy this more if I didn't have Heaven Knows on repeat in the past couple months. A cute little EP that I knew has an elevated version.


#8 Amaarae - The Angel You Don't Know : Exactly the same thing I said about PinkPantheress.

With the end of last year, i made a decision to try out new artists and genres more. We will see how that goes though.

1. Isolde Lasoen - Oh Dear // jazzy, folky, sometimes even psychedelic art pop. Isolde's voice is beautiful and the range she shows here is jaw dropping. // ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎
2. Sons of Kemet - Your Queen Is a Reptile // mostly instrumental jazz with some vocals thrown in, quite an interesting record overall. Loved the percussion and saxophone most. Will definitely look into their material further // ❤︎❤︎❤︎ 1/2
3. Klo Pelgag - L'etoile Thoracique // I knew Klo's last and third album and really liked most of those songs but never ventured further. This is her second one and i really love everything about it. Again art pop with exceptional vocals but it is more of a singular experience than Oh Dear imho. // ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎
4. Jessica Winter - Limerence EP // Oh this EP was definitely fire as a first taste from an artist. Jessica makes that synth pop that i loved when i was getting into pop. The build up in Choreograph is just breath taking. // ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ 1/2
5. Corinne Bailey Rae - Black Rainbows // I just wanted to add this album as an exposure because i have recently discovered it and it has been rocking my world since then. A Spell A Prayer, New York Transit Queen, He Will Follow You With His Eyes, Before the Throne of the Invisible God... all of them are pretty life changing songs imho. // ❤︎❤︎❤︎︎❤︎❤︎

#9 Sugababes - The Lost Tapes : This shouldn't have been my first proper Sugababes album. It's more like a gift to the long time fans. I'll check their older albums later.


#10 Ice Spice - Like? (Deluxe) : A pretty strong first project. Some songs sound similar to each other but I think she has a great debut album in her.


#11 The Weeknd - Dawn FM : The best album of today. It's not groundbreaking but the flow is really good and there are some genuinely great track here (Take My Breath, Out of Time, Is There Someone Else, etc).
