Have they been removed since this afternoon? I can't see them

Re: Alesha - "The Alesha Show" album - November 17th

Leaving the Spice Girls was one of the best political-pop moves in the history of music. The sub-par material she released is what did her in.

Alesha! I really want to hear this song, I'm surprised it's been guarded thus far, it's out at the beginning of November, right? I wonder how much promo she'll be doing.

I love the title.
It makes her bigger than she actually is, and boasting your ego with fame is always good.
Confidence!

Isn't that the point though? She and her label is trying to big her up big time, much like Leona and Simon Cowell did post-X-Factor. They're making her seem like hot commodity; but we'll see if it works for a Dancing With The Stars winner.

The idea of Alesha as a hot commodity is, sadly, laughable.
I expect good music, I don't expect good success. It's a sad old world in Pop.

Hey, she could do quite well as a commodity! With the state of the big banks' shares lately, investors will have to put their money somewhere. Could be gold. Could be copper. Could be Alesha.

Re: Alesha - "The Alesha Show" album - November 17th

I quite fancy the idea of Alesha singing "Lipstick", sashying around Wall Street and dancing at the stock exchange.

She'd be very smart indeed if she started going on about HBOS, or the FTSE 100...
Maths and music have great success....

Madonna and her clocks
Feist... 1234
Mariah E=MC2
Noah And The Whale.... 5 Years Time
20 Dollar M.I.A.
1 2 Step, Ciara

It could only do Alesha some good

I have to disagree. It was the fact that she was ever a Spice Girl that was her eventual undoing. She has some great songs in her catalogue.

I actually kind of like that things haven't been leaking so much this year, it helps build the anticipation.

This is what I posted on UKMix about the five songs (which are two min snippets):

I heard the five songs. First thoughts on each:

Song 1 - midtempo - sounded really good at the time but I've forgotten how it went now LOL.

Song 2 - 'The Alesha Show' / 'Here I Am' / 'Im Back' - It's probably called something like that, judging by the lyrics in the chorus. Jazzy, funky, uptempo, circus-like. Really like this one.

Song 3 - Ive called this one 'Chasing A Ghost' on my iTunes (i ripped the clips lol) because that's a lyric in the song; it probably isn't the title though. This is reasonably good; mid-to-up-tempo.

Song 4 - I assume this is called 'Careful' since that's the thrust of the chorus. This is like Something About You '08, no joke - the beat is so similar! That's no bad thing. I love it.

Song 5 - A really soft, slow ballad which could be called 'Do You Know?' or 'Do You Know How It Feels' or similar. A little bit boring but it picks up towards the end of the clip.

Songpeople don't actually give you the song titles but the songs all sound good. They sound very slick actually, and like a progression (though not radical) of the sound featured on Fired Up.
So was there any sign of MCing?

Or are we just gonna be disappointed there's nothing of what Alesha is good at and too much of what singers Jamelia, Javine and Sabrina would do better?

Re: Alesha - "The Alesha Show" album - November 17th

No, there was no MC'ing, but that didn't really matter to me. She has such a unique tone to her voice (any song of hers is instantly recognisable to be her) that she doesn't need to MC to stand out. The songs are brimming with attitutude too.

Hmmmm while I agree it's kinda unique when she's not playing to her strength it just lacks oomph for me. The thing I found when listening to Fired Up was that I couldn't help wishing it was a Mis-teeq record.

Re: Alesha - "The Alesha Show" album - November 17th

Very good promotion. It feels as if the label are fully behind her this time around.

Re: Alesha - "The Alesha Show" album - November 17th

I think there's a sense that Alesha is such a strong entertainer that she deserves to exist in the mainstream - and unfortunately MCing/rapping, especially in this country, would force her into a niche.

Re: Alesha - "The Alesha Show" album - November 17th

The descriptions of the tracks do not fill me with confidence.

Although I understand the niche argument, trying to turn Alesha Dixon into the UK's next soul sensation will not work - her voice is not good enough.

She, on the other hand, is ace. Therefore to ignore MCing again (as they seemed to for the first campaign) is a grave mistake. Let's face it, Misteeq were good when they unleashed Alesha (Unleashed should have been the album title). When her stacatto MCing wasn't around, they sounded completely run of the mill.

The same will happen again if the A&R people ignore that.
