What happened to Alesha?

How do you mean?

If you mean, why has she seemingly "changed" when she's on TV now into a not-as-likeable persona, and seemingly lost interest in bubbly, cheeky pop music, and begun taking herself far too seriously...then, fair enough!

All Out of Tune or even The Light could have led this re-release so much better. I'm not saying that it would have sold shedloads, but it would have hoisted it into the top 40, and gave her something that may make her public image seem a bit more interesting. Because becoming a BBC judge on a dancing show has stuck the knife in her credible image.

It would have worked had she have went on Britain's Got Talent or a younger, brighter, funner show, but becoming Strictly when she was trying to pull of a fun, pop image (something she's bloody good at), was career suicide. Like a porn star joining the convent.

Regardless of the producer she's still shite! Lets wait for what she has to say on strictly... I predict it will be what the previous judge has already said,

Just call me Mystic Pig!

You aren't far off actually, Eric.

I used to love Alesha. Properly adore her. She was the full package. A performer who can rap, sing and was personality packed to the point of irrepressibly. I loved Lipstick, which is probably an unpopular opinion, but it summed up everything about Alesha that appealed to me. Knockdown not so much. However I was willing to follow her because she's Alesha.

Then I heard The Alesha Show. I think it's one of the worst pop albums of the last few years. Her personality is there in bit and pieces but overall it's just...not very exciting. The Boy Does Nothing has a great chorus but the rest of it seems to go on forever to me. I know that's another unpopular pop opinion. To think that Alesha, in the pursuit of success, would change into this unrecognisable entity upsets me. I can understand why she went on Strictly but I think it's one of the worst decisions she ever made and one she'll come to regret in time. She is totally unsuitable for the role. Her advice is a meaningless stream of garbage. I actually feel bad for Arlene who was patently (in my view) removed because of her age despite the fact she's an actual expert.

Then there's the Gary Barlow song. The video is utterly thrilling isn't it? Alesha walking about a park. Wonderful! I'm barely able to hold my excitement and enthusiasm back when I see it on The Box. Actually, my frown goes down to my knees, it's so awful.

It's strange because I can't warm to her anymore. I've gone from adoring her to wishing she'd just go away - which is the normal reaction I have to something that I find annoying/upsetting. It's a strange one.

I enjoyed The Alesha Show, but I do think it could have been more of a business decision rather than a creative one. The quality of the music was still good and if it's put her on the map and made her a more permanent pop fixture ready for when she returns to her "roots", more power to her. Meeting halfway between her current fanbase and the Strictly fanbase was a sensible and savvy thing to do. She may just be playing the game.

OK The Light just clicked, I laze around and the sun has just come out.
MOMENT.

I'm sort of heading that way myself. And it does feel strange.

EG.

That makes 3 of us.

I also completely agree about the video for To Love Again - suits the song down to a tee. I do genuinely enjoy the alesha show - well about 3/4 songs on it but even those songs are easily forgettable a bit like the new re-issue songs.

Does Alesha just say YES to everything? Do you want to release a crap album? YES. Do you want to be on strictly? YES. Do you want to be a judge on strictly? YES. Do you want to do a tour where you perform about 10 songs and are on stage for less than an hour? YES. Do you want to be the face of fitness first ?(or whatever gym it is) YES.

She clearly knows her time is limited and is filling her boots whilst she can - good on her in that respect.

The Alesha show made me really worry for her judgement. It's very dated and naff in a lot of places. Someone at Asylum should have pushed her in the right direction....also she frequently looks terrible and cheap. She needs a stylist....looking good can be really powerfull. I know she wants to be relatable...but for example Cheryl's transformation from chav to high fashion has made her a really aspirational figure. Alesha could learn from that and stop wearing so much tat.

Cheryl's two stylists probably earn triple what Alesha makes.
Don't you ever tire of your own irrelevant, tedious, bitter contributions? All you do is snipe. Aren't you fulfilled in your own life or something? Christ.

I don't really know what Alesha has done to warrant this mini PJ backlash but I'm sure she'll be loved again as soon as she has a new album out and she isn't on TV every Saturday night. I reckon album 2 (or 3 rather) will be the one that's properly massive for her.

Hahaha and maybe all you do is snipe at me.
What would be good with you Sir? To write

'Aww Alesha is lovely and sings pretty'?

Where was the snipe?
Do you think I suggested Alesha is poor?
Or that I suggested Cheryl would look bad if she didn't have her stylists?

I wrote in humour that Alesha can't look as flawless as Cheryl - because Cheryl
has two stylists (Danni confirmed that) and a much bigger budget.

Joking aside, I am sure if you compared them Cheryl's stylist wage and Alesha's monthly earnings could be quite similar, at least in analogy.

Again, relax and chill, not every post is negative unless you want it to be that.
Stop looking for double meanings, too.

I still am shocked at where you found the 'snipe' in my post. I am a mega Alesha fan btw, I will have you know I endured Calvin Harris and some other on Wireless this year just to see her! And I am not in the UK so I don't see her on tv, ever.

Going on the strictly judging panel probably hasn't done her any favours.
On paper, I can see why she thought it was a good idea, especially after Cheryl's success. But the main difference is, Cheryl was encouraged to be herself and she was replacing somebody who left. Arlene was sacked, and so if Alesha had gone in acting like herself too much, people would have just been like 'Who is this little madam coming on here, laughing like Mutley?' So she had to tone it down and fit into the programme, which again didn't help.

If Arlene had left off her own back, she would have been fine, but it was always gonna be a lose-lose situation.

... then there's also the fact that it's a dance show and Alesha; whilst certainly capable of doing choreography, is not considered a professional within the field.
