Ah yes it has updated.

1. Alexandra
2. Leona Run
3. Beyonce IIWAB
4. Jeff Buckley
10. Beyonce Listen

It's quite amazing really that The X Factor is responsible for half the chart positions of the top 10.

Mines updated on the homepage (where you can just see the top 10) but not on the top 100 songs page. Odd.

Plus Womanizer at #7 benefited from the X Factor.
And Broken Strings at #5 no doubt had a few extra downloads after the Girls Aloud Party.

ITV are responsible for 7 of the Top 10 songs!

People really need to relax their expectations for Alex, she is not going to do a Leona because she not in the same class.

I agree with this to be honest, I think if Leona had have been there she'd have won again against these lot.

Her only competition would have been Alex, where as Alex didn't really have any competition.

I agree. Alex is good. The best of the 3. But she is no Leona. She just doesn't have the range. Though she was bloody good last night.

I just wish they hadn't chosen such a beautiful song for the radio to overplay.
That raw emotion that Jeff Buckley put into it will be diluted.

She's better than Leona. Leona is good, but pretty much a carbon copy vocally of Mariah Carey (when she was good), even to the annoying habit of not pronouncing the ending consonants of words. Alexandra's got a richer tone to her voice.

Your forgetting, when Leona was on X factor she knocked it out the park virtually every single week and she didn't just sing the songs, she hit with originality, like when she sung Summertime, probably the single best perfromance on any of these shows worldwide, that performance reverberated around the internet and got lots of people talking about her in the US.

I've not seen that kind of creative interpretation in Alex at all, its the reason why "Run" is at #1 at the moment, its the reason Bleeding Love was a hit, it was a reject song until Leona got her chops round it.

I think we vastly overestimate the amount of creativity the acts themselves get to put into performances. A lot of the time the versions they sing are just nabbed from somewhere else and it's never mentioned. For instance with Summertime, Fantasia did that version first on American Idol, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was from somewhere else before that.

For the record, Leona's Summertime is my favourite X-Factor performance ever, and I wish she'd done a studio version of it!

Fantasia and Leona's Summertime ????

Never has the same song ever been sung so differently.

People who go on about X-Factor killing music and this song are really quite thick.
They're the ones killing music by hating on an actual UK talent. Twats.

I think saying that's a simplistic interpretation would be a massive understatement.

I also think it's wrong to lump everyone wanting the buckley version to do well in with anti x factor sentiment.

Go head Miss Alex! And Miss Beyonce!

Y'all are so hard on lil Eoghan! Go head boo. He's a sweet kid and very gracious when he got voted out. Boy was brought up well. I love me some Miss Alex but if she'd have been voted out in 3rd place you woulda got a lotta tears and drama instead I'm sure.

I prefer my Toxic one, but this is quite sweet in it amateurishness I guess.

Maybe we can apply for a job at Fascination!

Dear Fascination,

We are both vaguely aquainted with photoshop so we seem to be qualified for a position within your graphics dept.

Go head Miss Alex!! Deserved it boo. I gotta say though I was readin' lil Eoghan was winnin' the votes for about 6 weeks? Anyone else thinkin Simon knew Miss Alex was gon' win and wanted her to win, cos the songs he chose for Eoghan, considerin' he was popular were rank ass bad! If Simon picked him some better songs that lil' kid coulda freakin' won!

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day vs Silent Night? Boyzone vs Miss Beyonce?! Damn Simon, you coulda given the kid a fightin' chance if you actually cared enough! I tell you now I bet ya if the kick-ass Miss Cheryl had been Eoghan's mentor she'd pull out all the stops for him. Hell, she'd even get up her ass up there with Girls Aloud to help him. Boyzone? You ain't meant to sing better than the star guest, but that lil' kid did!

Go head JLS too!

I didn't watch a second of X Factor but I've gone and listened to this and it's quite good. Much better than you would expect "Hallelujah done by the X Factor winner" to sound like.

Maybe if they released something like this for the winner of Australian Idol the show wouldn't seem like a horrible, horrible joke that keeps coming back every year.

Alex has much more soul, She will do a Leona and do it better.
I will put my money on that, I just got Hallelujah and can I say, CHILLS!

I have only got chills from Ave Maria by Beyonce and this is world class for an amateur.
I want to remind people Alex is not a professional singer and maybe she is now but just!
And she does have a good range, She an go very low to falsetto, Granted no Leona or whistle but that is not necessary.

I am actually so proud she is too amazing for words and last night only made me love her even more if that was possible, Simon was right a star was born last night.

Re: ALEXANDRA WINS XFACTOR 2008

I apologize if this has already been brought up or not, but wasn't Beyonce really, really, REALLY awesome to Alexandra? I don't know why I was expecting her to be a bit of a bitch, but she wasn't hogging the stage or trying to hold some "I know this is a talent show and I can wipe the floor with you" sing-off. It was just kinda nice to see the big star and the new star together. I dunno. Am I the only one who thought this? Probably.

Beyonce is a very shy person and you don't believe it till you see it,
She is much more like her I Am side i.e Ballads!

Watch this interview of her on Tyra.
She really has a personality like Leona! It makes me understand the whole Sasha Fierce thing.

No, everybody seemed to have loved the way Queen B behaved. She was so nice and caring and it seemed like they were able to connect and bond. B probably saw some of herself, her sister, Kelly and Michelle in Alexandra.

Also, check out the WalMart Soundcheck thing. After watching that I became a hardcore fan, she's divine.

I loved the more uptempo-rockier version of If I Were A Boy last night.

And that has what to do with Alexandra?Ha!

I have listened and am still listening to this for the past 15-20 minutes. It is my favourite winners single EVER, Better than Leon's!
It just has so much more soul I can hear her passion and determination!

Re: ALEXANDRA WINS XFACTOR 2008

I've got to agree that Beyonce came across really well. She was so gracious, and the way she was encouraging her, and pulling her hair away from her face was very protective. She's a big enough star that she doesn't need to be threatened by Alex, but she could recognise that she's a genuine talent, which she wanted to nurture.

I wouldn't be surprised if Beyonce continues to take an interest in her. Perhaps she'll get Jay-Z to do a bit of producing for her!

If she doesn't, I will blame you for getting my hopes up.

Well in Xtra Factor Alex said she'd asked Beyonce if she could support her next year and if they could do a duet, and B said yes to both. Whether or not it will happen I don't know, but it's quite sweet of her.

Her and Mariahs interest in the show really made Britney look kind of bad. Never thought she'd be the snotty diva who thought she was above everyone out of those three.

How many dates is Beyonce doing?

I wouldn't be surprised if for a couple of the dates she got to sing Hallelujah and maybe something else in the warm-up slot, then joined Beyonce to duet on Listen. It will give Alexandra credibility, and some good press for Beyonce too.

The tour is in May, so assuming Alexandra is being given time to record a good album, it will provide a nice little stop-gap and show progression as an artist between the X Factor tour and her new material.

Here's the worry: the album is apparently out in March.

I'm joining all the Beyonce love. That woman came across so nicely, so warmly, and I do love Halo. I expected her to shout over, yell over and show up Alex on purpose but she seemed to enjoy it genuinely. iIiIi LUVZzZ HER.
