Alexandra Burke

Re: ALEXANDRA WINS XFACTOR 2008

To be fair, Alex was crying through most of Listen, i think what i love most about her, is she is so obviously one of us, a fan. Maybe not a fan of many artists that are frequent on these boards, but she is a fan of music, and thats led her to know the sort of style she would like to go down.

I keep wondering what my reaction would be if i got to sing with one of my idols. I'd probably be in floods of tears if it was Delta Goodrem

I have always been astounded by those who supported JLS on vocal grounds. They were out of tune week on week. And as for those who said 'it's about time a group won it': holy fuck. There's a reason the groups don't win: a) they're usually shit and b) this format sells a very outdated concept of a group.

They were shit and thank fuck that they didn't win.

Well said on both those comments.

doesn't it annoy you when someone is like "Oh they are brilliant, they are fantastic they are MUCH better singers than Alex, they AREN'T a normal boy band, they AREN'T your same thing" etc...

Errrm.. yes they fucking are they are more than your typical sterotyped 1990's boy band & more.

It's actually sad that a mediocre boy band made the final, if it had have been a good boy band (yes like the Damage/B2K type) then I would have said "Definitely" but they are far far from that & the superior person won the show.

What kind of people are that deluded to think they are anythig different from that? I'm serious.

I still think there are opportunities for a 'surprise' Christmas number 1, but campaigning to get another version of a song to the top of the charts just to make a point about how shit The X Factor is seems somewhat misguided.

I hope they don't take Alexandra down the Britney route. First of all, I couldn't wish such a 'meltdown' on anyone and secondly, she'd look shit with a shaved head.

oh your so funny.

I had been thinking that too. If I got to sing live on tv with Kelly Clarkson, I think I would just be in shock.

debord

I think it's pretty harmless, and if it gets some extra attention for the far superior Cohen/Buckley versions, then good on them.

Completely agree.

Re: ALEXANDRA WINS XFACTOR 2008

People really need to relax their expectations for Alex, she is not going to do a Leona because she not in the same class.

Disinclined

29 on iTunes now, Jeff Buckley's versions lie at 7 and 77. Listen is 19.

I'll third that. Really, starting an anti-X Factor campaign is understandable, but why do it when (for once) the Christmas single is a great song done by an excellent singer? (Leona's great, but really A Moment Like This sucked the big one, not to mention the sheer laziness of the choice).

I agree with this to be honest, I think if Leona had have been there she'd have won again against these lot.

Her only competition would have been Alex, where as Alex didn't really have any competition.

The 'Hallelujah' cover turned out better than I thought it would!
However, am I the only one that REALLY gets annoyed when she sings 'but you don't really care for music do yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'? What was wrong with plain old 'you'?

I agree. Alex is good. The best of the 3. But she is no Leona. She just doesn't have the range. Though she was bloody good last night.

I just wish they hadn't chosen such a beautiful song for the radio to overplay.
That raw emotion that Jeff Buckley put into it will be diluted.

Louis must have got involved and thought it was "down with the kids"

Fantastic result. I liked her 3 years back and I loved her this year.

Lets hope they pick the right direction for her after this single.
