Alicia Keys - Here

As much as I do love Alicia, the general public has not checked for her for a while. "Girl On Fire" received massive push from all sides and a Nicki feature and it still did not crack the US Top 10 with such incredible push. Its parent album struggled to go Gold in her homeland, so this pretty much spelled out a next era of chart trouble.

Perhaps a brand new feature could sparkle some interest? If she wants to go down the piano-ballad route (her same old) John Legend is the way to go. If an upbeat track is on her wings, I'd definitely push a DJ collaboration a la Chainsmokers (if it is dancey) or Drake (if it is urban). Both would be down to work with her since she hasn't really been trapped in a flop era and her name usually equals quality output.

In Common is the first thing that I've loved from her in a literal decade. She needs to go for this more restrained vocal style more often (read: all the time always forever).

Wasn't it with Elements Of Freedom onwards that her success was 'mediocre' in the USA and 'huge' in Europe, when previously (the odd smash single aside) it was the other way round?

She did lots of UK promo for her last two albums but for In Common? Graham Norton and nothing else, I think - Radio 1 play would have helped but I think that they ignored her this time...

It's surprises me that 'In Common' wasn't at least a medium-size hit. It actually sounds like a hit without being too trend-chasing and overdone. And her name is in a similar vein to artists such as Kelly Clarkson and P!nk where she is well-known to the public but not overexposed as she only comes around every 2 or 3 years and seems to just be a comfortable presence in music.

I think she needs a collaboration to give her a little push. 'In Common' was literally begging for a Drake feature.

Alicia has been in the industry since 2001 and she's one of the few big female R&B / soul acts from the 2000s. I don't think she'll have a big hit again and a hit album but it is not really that bad given how successful she was before.

We are in the mid-2010s now and we are now in the period where a lot of the big acts that started during the late 90s and early 2000s are already on their way out in terms of dominating the charts.

She could probably get a decent charting album if she promotes in the right places but I think her as a singles artist is over.

So should release whatever she sang at the VMAs because that was a bawp.

In Common should have been followed up by another single STAT. I hate that they wait so damn long and then leave everything out to dry.

How is nobody talking about Back To Life!? I love the build up in the track and it gives me the same vibes In Common did, which is absolutelyl one of the songs of the year for me so far. Hope she doesn't keep us waiting too long for the album.
