All Important Single Edits On CD

To the best of my knowledge the only Into The Gap (UK) single which was remixed (or re-recorded) was Sister Of Mercy. I think I have an edit (early fade) of both Hold Me Now and Doctor! Doctor! somewhere.
Yes I got Doctor Doctor on a rare British Airways cd that was mentioned on this thread years ago.

I don't believe so. It is indeed just an early fade.
I'm not sure it's just a fade issue. My memory is that the 45 is a different mix as well.
I've got the 45 version logged as being correct on A Kick Up The Eighties Vol 8.

Edit. I may be getting mixed up here. It might be We Are Detective that's the different mix? But I have a list of 9 Thompson Twins singles with specific CDs identified for the correct length and/or mix.

Thompson Twins - Love On Your Side (The Greatest Hits Camden)

Thompson Twins - We Are Detective (The Greatest Hits Camden)

Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now (Platinum And Gold)

Thompson Twins - Doctor! Doctor! (CD single)

Thompson Twins - You Take Me Up (Kick Up The Eighties Vol. 8)

Thompson Twins - Sisters Of Mercy (Platinum And Gold)

Thompson Twins - Lay Your Hands On Me (Platinum And Gold)

Thompson Twins - Don’t Mess With Doctor Dream (The Greatest Hits Camden)

Thompson Twins - King For A Day (Platinum And Gold)

Also Watching I don't believe is on CD in its 45 version.

You could be right about You Take Me Up, I've checked my iTunes and while I have the shorter versions of Hold Me Now and Doctor Doctor tagged as "fade" or "edit", I've put "7" version" for YTMU, but that might not mean anything. My tagging is very unreliable!

Great list Stecov. The Greatest Hits and Platinum and Gold are great sources for the single mixes. I thought that British Airways cd was the only source for the single edit of Doctor Doctor.

Whisper it very quietly, but the early fade of Doctor Doctor is on the original Now 4 as well.
You just need a new mortgage to buy it.

I specifically bought Platinum And Gold after reading the information on this site!

The CD single is one of a series RCA released in the late 80's by different artists. All 3" CDs in blister packs.
Thankfully blister packs which open and shut easily (unlike the Warner releases).

A Kick Up The Eighties is an Old Gold release. Their 80s/early 90s releases contained loads of single mixes which have never appeared anywhere else - that kind of makes me think the 45 mix of You Take Me Up is possibly different. But so many were, yet many weren't of course, and it's very hard to keep accurate info on everything.

Just did a little digging into Thompson Twins Doctor Doctor and according to Discogs there were two single versions issued of it. One at 3:58 and the other at 4:22.

There's a very old Telstar CD with a 3.58 version on, but that might be little more than an early fade for that CD?

I'm not convinced by that Discogs entry with 3.58 entered. There's no label time to go on. There may have been a radio promo which faded earlier than commercial copies? Both UK 45s on YouTube are the 4.25 version.

My inclination is to stick with 4.25 as the UK single version unless someone actually owns an original UK 45 with the shorter length on.

Yes, that's the CD I found listed on another research source I use (MusicBrainz). But other compilations have even shorter versions.

That short edit comes from a US promo 45, which has 3.46 on the label, but that is obviously wrong.
The other side of that promo 45 is listed as 4.29, same as commercial US timings. But the commercial US 45s actually play 4.34/5. That shorter version is edited though, it's not just an early fade.

If it was issued in the UK, I still suspect it would have been only for radio.
