All Important Single Edits On CD

Does anyone know if this cd uses the correct U.K. single version of Bobby Thurston Check Out The Groove.

Interesting. I've never bought anything from that label though, and the timings of other tracks suggest it's all over the place. Some are shorter than the original 45 versions as well. Are they even the original recordings?
Impossible to know beforehand unfortunately. Personally I think it's a long shot. Might just be an early fade of the more common 3.50ish version if it is the original?

I've got this marked as not on CD, and my copy is "edited from CD". I don't think I did the edit for this one though, so it could be an edit of the 3.50 version or the full 7 minute job.

Only version I have is the 3.50 one on Eighties Soul Weekender: 40 Essential Dance Classics.

Bear in mind that commercial 45s of this were the original 1982 version. I believe the 88 remix was only on a promo 45 serviced to radio until Now included it.

This explains why I distinctly remember the 88 mix on the charts/radio, and then being confused/disappointed the Idol Songs comp that followed still had the 82 original.

Yeh I don't think I will take a gamble as the cheapest I see it is Amazon Germany at 18 Euro. Maybe at 10 euro or less I would have risked it.

There might just be something in that link. This YouTube posting appears to be taken from an edition of Wagram's Mega Funk, though it's an earlier edition than the one you linked to.



This version exactly matches the UK 45. But the details suggest it's from a different CD altogether.

Looking at that YouTube user's other video's it seems they are taken from that Mega Funk cd so I'm thinking it is the correct version.I am going to see if I can find either of those Two Mega Funk CDs cheap and take a risk.

The 3.50ish version is quite common on CD, most copies not the 7 minute LP version run around this time.
I believe (from the label time at least) this is the US 45 version.
The UK 45 was shorter, 3.29 play time.

Yes with So many Artists Greatest Hits or Best of's use Album or Wrong versions.

Could be the wrong edit previously mentioned, or short, or fast if it is the correct version.

It's possible. I didn't play it the last few years. Most edited versions are 3:40 touch...

Very true. Both my CD copies are indeed around 3.40.
