Massive Attack: Be Thankful (Oakenfold Edit) [3.50] on a 1992 Spanish V.A. CD 'Zona De Baile vol. 2'

Is that not just the version from the 7" single with the last 46 seconds cut off so they could fit it onto the CD?

Ooh, cheers for the Wrap Her Up 7" info. I agree about those compilations with stuff like The Concept, Whistle, etc. Great stuff.

I'll have to listen to my Jaki Graham Essential 2CD now and see what the quality's like!

I've just had a look through some of those high life compilations and there seems to be a wealth of 7" mixes on them. As stated above there is Wrap Her Up also Sam Moore & Lou Reeds Soul Man which I have been trying to source and quite a few euro hits as well of course. I think saving up is in order!

You know you're in trouble when dodgy German compilations are where it's at! There are a whole stack of these High Life ones...for 1986 alone.

I've had a look through my collections and I cannot find the 88 remix of Que Sera anywhere mind you if you want the CD single I see there is one finishing tomorrow on E-Bay and there are no bids on it yet at a reasonable £2.

Thanks, simes! I hate how an entire generation of music has been basically removed from history, unavailable even as mp3s. I'm now trying to find the 7" of Yello's Goldrush without having to pay £££s for one of those High Life comps.

Does anyone know of a CD compilation that features the 7" mix of Judy Boucher's Can't Stay With You Tonight?(I know it's one of my guilty pleasures)

Yes, the 'High Life' ones are quite good. As was 'Sommer Smash Hits' [where I found the 7'' mix of The S.O.S Band's 'No Lies' [3.43], though that's now on the remastered 'Sands Of Time'].

That'll be "The Greatest Hits Of 1987" again. It's a 3.51 mix.

Another tricky SOS Band 7" is Just the Way You Like It, which is on Nite Flite 2.

Germans were obsessed with correct 7" edits in the 80s! Singles market was huge.

I was just wondering is there any way to add a file or something similar to this page? I think it would be worthwhile to have a section that everyone could update adding hard to find edits and when located putting which compilation they are on ie With the likes of Bros I Owe You Nothing next to that we would have HITS 8/ Top Of The Pops 1988 and Jaki Graham Step Right Up on Essential Jaki Graham. I think this could help all us that want the actual 7" version and it would also show which compilations to get it on.

No, there isn't the facility to add shared files directly on the forum I'm afraid.

Probably the best we can do is keep editing/updating the first post in the thread, but that can only be done by the person who started it. Still better than nothing though!

You're correct, Mr Generic, the 7'' version of 'Sister Of Mercy' is on 'Platinum & Gold collection', but be warned, people, NOT on Thompson Twins 'The Greatest Hits' released by BMG Camden in 2003, despite saying it is on the sleeve (I found that out to my cost when i bought the album especially for it. It provoked some very bad language, i can tell you). Also, is it not the 7'' remix of Tears For Fears 'Head Over Heels' that's on 'Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 1982-1992)'? Oh, and finally, Is it the 7'' of The S.O.S. Band 'Just Be Good To Me' that's on Nite Flite 3 as it's run time is 3:56 whereas every other version i have lasts for around 6 minutes?

Just Be Good To Me comes in a 12" vocal mix at 8 minutes, a 5.39 version, a 4.26 edit, and 4.11 edit. So the Nite Flite 3 mix is not one I knew about, but that series do tend to contain rare single versions, so now I am curious!

The mix of Head Over Heels on Greatest Hits 82-92 is the single version, but just like the album version that segues into the next song as "...funny how...time flies" starts to fade, the 82-92 mix does the same, except into Mad World!

I have now updated the first page with all the information added. I shall add any new additions ASAP.
Does anyone know where to find the 4min single edit of Boomtown Rats Someone's Looking At You?

Brilliant work. I see there's an edit of Broken Land! And on that same comp is a 3.36 edit of Strange Kind of Love by Love & Money (usually 5.18), one of my all-time fave tracks. I may have to bite.
