All Rates On Deck: R&B Queens, The Sequel (WINNER ANNOUNCED!)

She/Her
FOR
FUCKS
SAKE

Did people vote in this rate who literally don't like 4, because what's the point in voting in a rate where you are going to low score an entire album in it?

I liked this because that "FOR FUCKS SAKE" is entirely deserved ("Dance for You" is a perfect slow jam; curse my 9.5 for not being a 10), but to be fair, the scores aren't actually that low. It almost has an 8 average, which would be fantastic in a lot of other rates.

I am horrified at this result. This song is completely slept on. It took me years to find out about this certified anthem. The first time I had this song stuck in my head was Labor Day 2014. I was working at a grocery store and I needed to collect carts outside when it was 90 degrees and I was sweating while hustling to this masterpiece. So thanks Beyoncé, for helping this former retail worker out.
The only thing I don't like about it is how her vocals feel a little too preachy for me.

Another 11 falls here today...

Whose is it?

Is it @ohnostalgia

Is it @DJHazey

We know it's not @Sprockrooster

#35 Mariah Carey - Faded [7.888...]
Highest Score: 11 x 1 (@A&E) 10 x 2 (@Kuhleezi @Number)
Lowest Score: 4 x 1 (@DJHazey)
My Score: 9
Poor @A&E is the second one to see their 11 knocked out of the running, and if it were up to me some of y'all's 11's would be out long before this. Poor Mimi has been done so wrong in this rate (then again, if your name isn't Tinashe or Janet, you've been dealt a pretty shitty hand recently).Consider this, though. With this elimination, Mariah only has TWO more songs in the running. M E S S. Mess on all of your houses. Like if we had musical entries for words in the dictionary, this would be the one for smooth.

All that being said, I'm just glad that this elimination will not have a meltdown from me...

Unlike poor Bey, some of the detractors have actually decided to give reasons why they gave this one mediocre scores. @AshleyKerwin (6.5) doesn't find much to latch onto here. "I like the piano(?) but there's nothing going on." It's MARIAH CAREY. There's always vocals going on, but let's not. Never one to describe herself as a Mariah fan, @ohnostalgia (7) is predictably blasé about it. "An apt title." Check your placement in the Top Answer Game before you come for Mimi.

Known partaker of hateration and holleration @Kuhleezi (10) actually found some kindness in ha heart for this choon. "Definitely a grower, but when it grows it really is the best song on the album. Love how it builds and builds and builds until she screams in our ears." It's a #moment of vocal genius musicality whatever.

@Sprockrooster (8) @CorgiCorgiCorgi (8) @2014 (8.5) @Lost In Japan. (8) @JamesJupiter (7.5) @ohdenny (7) @KAG (8) @Aester (7.5) @Jacket (4.5) @Mr Blonde (9) @AlmightyAloud (8.5)

Have some audio that sounds like it was recorded with a Motorola Razr.

The @ feature is free honey.

What is the other Mariah song apart from Beautiful? At least Faded made it into the top 3 of the album so I'm not that mad.

The Mariah situation is weird because, other than #Beautiful, the songs of hers that have done well are the ones that I've liked least from Elusive Chanteuse. I know it's a forum fave but You Don't Know What To Do never clicked with me, and neither did Faded.

Today's a change of pace....

#34 Tinashe - Far Side of the Moon [7.916...]
Highest Score: 10 x 4 (@Kuhleezi @Jacket @A&E @AlmightyAloud)
Lowest Score: 4 x 1 (@Number)
My Score: 8.5
Yep. You've all recently been feeling a bit of fatigue with the Tinashe domination, so perhaps it's a good thing that she's finally suffered another loss (her last one was TWENTY eliminations ago). Personally, I would've had quite a kii if she'd made it through yet another milestone without any eliminations, but I also gave Aquarius an average of 9.25, so I'm clearly biased. This makes sense as her next cut, though. If she had to lose something, I can make peace with this. This is the little melancholy bop that could. Things were looking quite bleak for its placement at the beginning, but then you hunties came through with these tens and shot it up the leaderboard. It was like a miniature redemption arc that only I got to see. I do kind of regret not just giving it a 10, though.

Harbinger of all things questionable, @Sprockrooster (5.5) fails to see the genius here. "There was potential with that beat. However potential wasted." Are you being phsecious? Perennial commentator (as she never fails to throw in my face at every opportunity) @ohnostalgia (9) praises the atmosphere. "I just love this album's vibe." It's quite good, innit? @Kuhleezi (10) simply can't keep up with these turning tables, and I'm personally blaming this elimination on all of the bad karma they've built up during this rate. " The boppy ballad I didn't knew I needed in my life." I'm so conficted. Part of me wants to tell you this is what you get, but I also agree.

@CorgiCorgiCorgi (8) @2014 (8.5) @Lost In Japan. (8.5) @JamesJupiter (6) @ohdenny (6.5) @DJHazey (5) @KAG (7) @Aester (9.5) @Mr Blonde (8.5) @AshleyKerwin (8)

Tinashe finally loses a song and, of course, it's one of the few I adore.

This rate is not going well for me.

Time to get rid of another 11...

Hint, it's an artist whose head you've been calling for...

#33 Tinashe - Vulnerable (feat. Travi$ Scott) [7.944...]
Highest Score: 11 x 1 (@Mr Blonde) 10 x 3 (@ohdenny @Jacket @Petty Mayonnaise)
Lowest Score: 5 x 1 (@AlmightyAloud)

My Score: 10
You've turned on poor Tinashe in a big way, it seems. This haunting little ditty first appeared on Tinashe's mixtape Black Water, and was included as a bonus track on Japanese release of Aquarius. Because of that, it is a bit more left-field than a lot of what's on Aquarius, but I personally love Mixtapashe, so I love this kind of stuff from her. I'm going to keep it simple. I've adopted a new lease on life, so I'm not going to have a meltdown. Instead I'm simply going to say this. Y'all wrong for this. That is all. My condodlences @Mr Blonde.

Queen of not adopting my zen approach to eliminations @ohnostalgia (8) appreciates the atmosphere of this track. "There's something creepy about this that I like." It's like the sexiest horror movie soundtrack ever. Horror porn for the ears, so to speak. @Kuhleezi (8) continues ha vacation from being the low scorer, but holds Tinashe to a higher standard than this. "Cute, but she has so many better tracks in this vein." Lowkey I kind of agree and sort of wish I had switched my scores for this and Far Side of the Moon. Then there's poor @ohdenny (10) who's probably lamenting the fact that not everybody experienced their revelation with this track. "I never quite got this song until I was playing a Tinashe Spotify playlist and then this came on and I HAD to put it on repeat the whole day." Amen, good sis. Amen. (And good on you for giving her those streaming coins.)

@Sprockrooster (6) @CorgiCorgiCorgi (9) @2014 (7) @Lost In Japan. (9.5) @JamesJupiter (6) @DJHazey (7) @KAG (7) @Aester (7) @A&E (8.5) @AshleyKerwin (8) @Number (6)

Far Side of the Moon is usually a skip for me. I just find it a bit of a drag and it totally ruins the flow of the album for me. A 4 was rather kind!

And the mixtapes are impeccable, generally, but Vulnerable has never grabbed me. Gimme Ecstasy any day.
