Allie X - Girl with No Face

To anyone who's seen her live and got meet and greets, how are they/how was the experience?
Seen her over a half dozen times, never not met her. She’s lovely and so normal.

I stuck to the end of the queue the other week in Chicago—they let the last 10 or so people know we’d only have time for a quick exchange and a photo, but only because she’d been so generous with her time for the first 90-ish people in line.

Go early and you’d have plenty of time to chat with her, I’d say!

We lined up in a circle around the space and then she came out and everyone got a small chat, a photo, she signed whatever people wanted signed. It was before the show, which I prefer personally. She was obviously super nice. I got really nervous because I knew what I wanted to talk to her about (This is detailed in my last post) but she was just so sweet. Also all the fans were so kind, people making friends and such. I was alone and I don't go to shows much so I was kind of awkward and didn't talk to anyone but the vibes were good. A lot of people dressed up really fashionable, outwardly queer, etc. and I think I remember her mentioning during her set how much she loved that.

Anyways -- The meet and greet was like 6pm to 7pm, there was time during/after to buy merch which was the best time because the line got VERY long and things were selling out I feel like before the show even started. So if you want to buy things, I recommend doing that sooner rather than later. 7:30 everyone was let in. The opener was on at about 8/8:30. Allie came out around 9/9:30 and the set was about an hour.

10/10 would do again.

I feel kind of bad because I was gushing with excitement about how I have been looking forward to meeting her since the Cape God tour, and how I was happy to finally be making up for that event having been cancelled. And she said "I am so sorry about that" I was like "No. Please don't apologize". I hope she doesn't blame herself at all for being unable to reschedule those shows because of her health. I told her all that matters is that she's performing again and we have the chance to make up for it now.

She mentioned during the show how great it was to be able to play for such a big crowd. Deserved.

I know this is off topic, but this song came on shuffle and it reminded me of how incredible it is.

Her vocals in this song slayed me then and they still slay me now. She goes off on this song and I wish she would come out with more songs where she just belts it like this in the studio. And this to me deserves a spot as a gay anthem. It always makes me think of like having a safe space in community.

Still firmly in my Top 10 for this year; “Galina” and “Truly Dreams” are some of the lighter cuts but I adore them so much.

Same. This might be my favorite Allie album, truly. The wait was worth it, and the amount of work she put in in her learning how to produce songs to make an album this damn good. Her song writing remains top tier. I could keep gushing.

I wonder if the version of Galina will be a little bit different for the music video. At the Tour M&G, she said that she was thinking about maybe having a feature on the track for a potential single release.
