Apple

Ordered the 2nd-gen HomePod. I listen to music so much, yet somehow I don't own a portable speaker beyond my TV soundbar. Rectifying that situation! (And excited!)

Also took the occasion to switch to Apple Music (because, duh--HomePods seem pointless without it) after years with Amazon Music Unlimited, which was fine and has gotten better but utterly fails in the realm of social features and music curation. So now I'm basically going through every BPG and tapping "Love" so Apple knows I'm a henny.

Apple needs to pay closer attention to Mac OS cuz these random glitches and QOL issues littered throughout the system are not a good look. It's 2023 and finder still doesn't auto snap-to-grid, literally why would I ever want files laying on top of one another? Pinch to zoom randomly stops working until you disable and re-enable it. And I could go on forever about the Apple Music app.

Get it together Tim Apple!

Probably thicc question but, if I have my automatic backup on the cloud (I pay for 200gb) doesn't that aready include the photos in my phone - so I don't need to also store my photos / videos on the cloud seperately, right?

No, if everything is backed up, you wouldn’t need to do that too.

However, the Cloud experience with photos/videos means you can access all of them on all of your devices. It also uses less space on your devices. They are only downloaded from the cloud when you view them.

I remember when I migrated them to Cloud, I gained other features but I don’t remember what they were or know of it’s still the case.

Lemme save my coins in advance. That new HomePod 2 pair was EXPENSIVE but I think I'm gonna upgrade my MacBook this year and hope that their QC isn't as bad as it's been written about. I think the HomePods are actually a step in the right direction, and if they allow us to finally add HomePod mini's as rear/center/further channels, that could also be a gamechanger for their smart/home theater pathways. I guess we'll see. I ain't buying a new iPhone until the 16 for the time being.

Does anyone know how to turn off the software image processing on iPhone 14 PM? There’s a split second where the photo looks great after I take it, then the processing applies and it turns to dogshit. I’ve started screenshotting that split second but it’s so annoying

The only solution is to take RAW pictures and then edit later if needed but the files are obviously huge.

Anything is possible, but not previewing their headset at WWDC this year is the worst scenario they can go for on every level. I know their invites are always super vague but this year's art direction is giving me Reality OS/headset.

I asked about this a while ago, and sadly the answer is no. Even RAW shots won’t look great unless you do some editing on them yourself.

Marques Brownlee did a video on it, and it’s basically that they changed the sensors for the first time in years and the software is no longer finely tuned to them, so it now feels like overprocessing. It’s something they can fix with software, so let’s hope it’s coming.

I finally caved and got a HomePod Mini for my bedroom because I found one at a decent price. It's so tiny! I'm impressed by the sound quality for the size.

They are nice. I'm considering buying two again (after I sold my last pair for two HomePod 2's) to add to the back corners of my place and to have more sound, even if not surround or beyond stereo.
