Also, let me defend Miss Koci for a second. There's so much discourse online surrounding her place in pop.
I'm sure anyone can find comments of me dragging her output and persona when she debuted, but she's more than proven she's committed to her artistry at this point. The singles flopped, but instead of hopping on any instant DJ feature she course-corrected her album cover, management, and filmed visuals for every track. Not to mention, the hooks are solid, the production is polished, the vocals are impressive.. She's responsible for a genuinely good dance-pop album. And she's done all of this while dragging her ex-boyfriend who produced the entire project?
Honestly, icon behavior. She deserves a win.

as an ardent Maxipad and Monster this is roughly as good as Chromatica, which is still in my top 3 Gaga records

I mean, The Fame Monster has a personality, for one. Ava's album is cute, much like her other music. It's definitely better than her debut. But these songs could have been released on what feels like 5 different albums over the last 3 years. I know the bar was practically on the floor, but let's not do too much just because sis showed up.
I give Ava a lot of credit. She came through with a great album while having to deal with the delay and the leak. I hope she continues to deliver bops.

Ava's career has already been pretty tumultuous. I'm not sure of the timeline but I know she started at Artist Partner Group then got moved to Atlantic when APG sold their roster, so now she's working with people who didn't develop her (still on APG for Publishing though). Broke up with her boyfriend who was also her producer (I think?), then changed management after recording this album, then it got delayed, then it leaked. And she still got the damn thing out! We've all seen any one of those issues fell bigger campaigns.
If she can use 2023 to stabilize, tour, maybe be a "special guest" on a bigger tour, get some features, she can keep building the fanbase since it actually seems to be clicking for the first time.
