Falling Fast is a great way to end an album.
What The Hell and Smile are still great, effervescent-if-juvenile bops. They're both shameless fun.
Rock n' Roll and its video were both achievements and I'm disappointed two of the album singles never took off like they truly deserved to. Even with the Chad Kroeger, Hello Kitty video mess, I enjoyed HTNGU and Rock n' Roll so much.

It still makes me angry that Rock N Roll wasn't huge. It's too good to have languished like it did.
My biggest complaint about the self-titled album is that the cover art is not actually a photo of a beheaded Avril Lavigne mannequin. If she was going to go with… that direction… she should have gone all out.

It's the best song to come out of that whole teen-pop-became-teen-rock era. A genuinely affecting meditation on adolescent loneliness and desire, and that feeling that the whole world is against you. Avril's voice was perfect on this.

Give You Want You Like from the self titled album would be a great direction for her next record:

This woman is so talented, and she's ignored because of her refusal to change-up her style. It's so frustrating. She's gorgeous, and when she was signed to Ford models her shoots were incredible when she was dressed properly.
Reinvent her image, and she's the full package. Her song writing talent is undeniable, and her live singing has come on leaps and bounds to the point where she's one of the most consistent around.
I stan for her so hard.
