He/Him
I fully forgot I’ll start tonight NN
I am determined to get this done, but bringing myself to slog through a couple of these again...

The floor is A ONE:

giphy.gif
I don't think I'll do this but I want to know if Party Queen is the trashy goodness I need in my life?
I've been sick for a week now so I couldn't finish this. I'm so sad. Maybe I'll have enough strength to do this real quick tomorrow.
What time is the deadline tomorrow @Cutlery? I intended to listen to the songs again before submitting my ballot but now I'm not sure I'll have the time (I already scored them though, so I'll send my ballot even if I don't get to listen to them again).

Truth be told, I only got a grand total of 4 ballots so send yours if you're here for it when you can nn

Whew, took the second half of my day to finish this one up.

So...

Party Queen 7,81 (10x1, 5x1)
LOVE again 7,19 (10x1, 3x1)
Colours 7,30 (10x1, 4x1)
A ONE 8,40 (10x3, 6x1)
sixxxxxx 7,25 (8,5x1, 6x1)
M(A)DE IN JAPAN 8,38 (10x1, 7x2)
TROUBLE 7,20 (8,5x1, 4x1)

Looks like I'm still a stan after all these years.

Okay so, sorry for leaving y'all hanging! I got 10 voters in the end, so like, thank you lots to all who decided to take part of this niche (ppl who can thoroughly rate post-FIVE Ayu) within a niche (ppl who want to rate her music).
I'm just going through the last few graphics and leaderboard details and will hopefully be beginning eliminations on Monday (March 16), so, ASAP. Thanks for the patience and I hope y'all enjoy this!

Well... perhaps surprising none, Petty Queen is the first era to take a hit.

You just KNOW from the first five-ten seconds that this has Timmy's manicured hands all over it. It's a cabaret-lite number that's just so silly, old-fashioned and slow. Three descriptors that do not necessarily bode well with the average Charts dweller. Personally, I find it relatively repulsive but I can live with it. The very last part of the outro in particular, I find salvageable. This has the distinct feature of probably being the song with most commentary, nn!

@RUNAWAY, whom I'd say is generally amicable in their commentary, really hit a nerve with this one, "Horrible, awful, genuinely terrible. This is my least favorite Ayu song of all time, and it literally hurts me to even listen to it", a fine choice, though I think she has considerably worse (ki). Meanwhile, @Weslicious has a bone to pick with a cabaret queen, "Ayuminelli Hamasaki is not for me, old chum", well at least you didn't drag Dita von Teese into this, punk!

@evilsin gives it a middle-of-the-road rate, "Too much weirdness and too little of an actual song. There is hardly anything to grip to, even though it tries to throw everything at the listener in hopes it sticks", well that's what Timmy x Ayu goes Burlesque does to you. @ThisIsRogue makes... choices, "This is kind of quirky and I like it. The style suits her voice as well", does it really, though? @otenkiame comes for that one other Xtina-related film, "I see what you're trying to do here, girl. I'm just not so sure of the final product, because I don't think Ayu's vocals fit this Moulin Rouge-type song very well. And, I dunno, I kind of start losing interest in the song itself as it progresses. But that's probably because I don't have much taste?". No worries, hun, barely anyone likes it.

Obviously this was a staple for HOTEL Love Songs tour, and you can click play on a performance of it below (but why would you??? Okay, maybe if you watch it with the audio off):

Beasts! Y'all heard Timmy attempting to spit bars rhyming the simplest words he could find shuffling Cambridge Learner's Dictionary and tanked it, huh? This was, to me, a good little bridge between 'Lady Dynamite' ha diluted, insipid "bad chick who hangs with the gays" attitude and the pro-proletariat, anti-patriarchy excellence of 'Ladies Night'. You can even hear the same drums in the track.

@otenkiame has his own Idontknowher.gif moment, "Ugh. Is that that Timmy guy? It must be. His voice isn't that bad, I guess, but why does he have so much airtime on the damn song!? Should've just let Ayu do his parts. Seriously, it detracts so much from the song, which is a shame since I enjoy the hooks a lot. Especially since this sounds more Ayu than "Party queen", in my opinion". I like the complete laziness delivered with melodrama, perhaps we're both drama gays after all. @ThisIsRogue drags, "The weird male vocal talking throughout the song and they lyrics themselves are competing for most cringeworthy". And on the same boat, I wave towards @Weslicious' direction, "Somehow native English speaker Timmy contributes the most basic, uninspired, fourth grade English to an Ayu song. A woman could be having fun, a woman could be like a nun >>>>>> Go on a date, stay up late." Does anyone remember the 'Real me' video? She snapped for her only coreographed audiovisual material.

At last, @evilsin, cautiously stans from a different sail afar, "What a racket. Timothy (?) invading the song was certainly a choice. I would very much prefer one of the rappers bringing the flavor. The chorus' melody is pretty lush regardless". Yes, as Charli fans, we do tend to like an autotuned racket, don't we?

Something tells me none of you will be enthusiastic about this performance recorded during the same tour, but I will leave it here regardless:

So lemme explain the cover. We know that generally Ayu/her team stopped caring much about album art direction after Party queen, using whatever bed, messy wig and b&w or pink filters were available at that present moment. A ONE in particular, had this nondescript... wall? window with way too much light coming in? So, naturally, the blinds are now shut. My sense of humour, it amazes me sometimes!

Oh yeah this song. It's a ballad. There's plenty of them during this period of Ayu's career. @Ana Raquel is gritting her teeth somewhere (how were you not the lowest scorer??). I always forget how this goes, but whenever I play it (this year, twice, just for the rate), I am annoyed. It's fitting for the first one we eliminate.

@evilsin makes it look like his enjoyment diminished as the song went on, "She sounds great here, actually, kinda more raw, and the lyrics about marriage, I guess, are cute, alas it ends up grouped with other same-y ballads", you're not wrong with the forgetable aspect. Some unfortunate people just don't like A ONE, right @Weslicious? "This isn’t any worse than Story, but I am so bored at this stage".

We close with @otenkiame, the sole person who had something nice to say, "Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe this song. The piano work and Ayu's soft vocals are everything and more. I've heard some people dismissing this, and I honestly can't see why. For me, it gives Ayu a slightly different sound than what she usually puts out, and does it spectacularly", why am I cackling at you not being its biggest lover?

Here's the video, which features JJ Lin, whom as far as I'm concerned doesn't do shit in the track nor the video? Ayumi served in that wedding dress tho, I want to wear it.
