    2017 Mid-Year

Yes y'all. It's getting towards that time of year again. I would say "already?!" but May feels like it's been at least 3 months long already so get a damn move on and kindly fuck off May. Now June looks set to be loaded with releases so like most I'll probably be waiting until the end of the month before I compile my lists, but it's never too early to at least start thinking and discussing about what's been great this year already is it?

So there you have it, use this thread to list, discuss and share what you've been listening to in the first half of the year.

    What have you loved?
    What's been disappointing?
    What's been outright awful?
What's still to come out that you're looking forward to?
Look back at other hit threads in this critically acclaimed series:
    - Best of 2016 - Mid-Year
    - Best of 2016 - Year End
    - Best of 2015 - Year End
  2. Really though why is June looking so good?

  3. Aww yeah. This year's been pretty sweet so far. My initial top 10 (which will probably completely change by year's end) is thus:

    1. Slowdive - Slowdive
    2. Ulver - The Assassination of Julius Caesar
    3. Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
    4. Kendrick Lamar - Damn
    5. Ayreon - The Source
    6. Sampha - Process
    7. Spoon - Hot Thoughts
    8. Chris Stapleton - From a Room: Volume 1
    9. The Magnetic Fields - 50 Song Memoir
    10. Pain of Salvation - In the Passing Light of Day

As to what I'm hyped for coming up? Anathema and Fleet Foxes, definitely those two, and I'm also holding out hope for Lorde, Suffocation and Ride (hey, Slowdive pulled their comeback off incredibly, so why shouldn't they?).

Unfortunately, I've also got my list of disappointments...
    Blackfield - Blackfield V
    Depeche Mode - Spirit
The Flaming Lips - Oczy Mlody
    Gorillaz - Humanz
Linkin Park - One More Light
    Logic - Everybody
    Lupe Fiasco - DROGAS Light
(Oh, and Ghost Bath, but I only listened to their album for cheap laughs.)

  10. @Island Lisa Mafia??!! What is happening? Shook if something is coming!
  11. I follow her on Facebook for a kii and she says she's releasing an album but I'll believe it when I see it.

  12. Got me completely anticipated. I definitely need more from this First Lady!

  13. JoJo's Mad Love. remains my most played album into 2017. The longevity is insane, prolonged by the two fantastic tour dates I had the privilege of attending. Being the same age as her makes the songs so incredibly poignant at this point in my life, I feel like we're going through a lot of similar experiences as there's always a song on the album to fit my mood.

As for song, K.A.R.D's Don't Recall really is that bop. It's such a solid song and seeing them live you can tell they really love what they're doing, they're so happy together. Can't wait for their official debut later this year.

For releases I'm looking forward to Shania hopefully following through on her June single and album later this year. Utada's had murmurs of releasing and of course there's Xtina. Stay tuned for my year-end rant about none of them releasing.
