Hello everyone! Welcome to bumpkin patch. It's been waiting for you.

grammys.jpg

This rate is a niche one but will hopefully be a lot of fun. The rate will feature the last 20 songs awarded for Best Country Song. Additionally I have added 6 winnersfrom the Best Male and Best Female to add some variety. There was quite a bit of cross-over in the categories too so this make it feel more complete rate.

PM the scores of the songs rated 0 to10 with half scores being allowed. Sending commentary would be great too. To make things more interesting I am bringing the 11 into play to makeeveryone have a favorite!

Votes will be due by March 2.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

This looks interesting, because I see songs I like and it is not that taxing of a list to play though. I may partake.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

Would be great if you did. I need to get myself to do the Avril rate as well.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

I'm definitely doing this! I love country/pop and this is a short list.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

Can I just give Shania, Taylor, and Faith 10's, Dolly a 9, and everybody else 0's? And Kacey Musgraves a -10 because I still resent hearing that Put It on a Shelf song every damn day on the radio at my old job.

To some extent I like all the songs in the list.

I thought you liked Vince!?

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

Just sent in my votes! There were really only 2 songs that I actively disliked, the rest were either mediocre-to-good or absolutely amazing. I didn't realize I liked country as much as I actually do!

I'm very tempted to participate. I low-key like a bit of country.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

I didn't know Carrie won that many Grammies. And what's the story behind "How Do I Live" being nominated/winning, but not the LeAnn Rimes version?

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

Can't we do the last 50?

You know how much I love country but it was so much better in the 70's.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

Actually looking at the list some right old tat has won this award since 1965.

The amount of legendary songs that have been passed over is astonishing.

Re: Best of Country: Grammy Winners Song Rate

I think the amount of songs is perfect - it looks encouraging for anyone normally turned off by country but is willing to give it a chance. 32 songs isn't that bad, especially considering how huge the rates have been over the last little while. I don't know all of the songs but from the ones I do know, they're all like 7-8 and above. Excited to participate in this!

And what's the story behind "How Do I Live" being nominated/winning, but not the LeAnn Rimes version?

LeAnn recorded it first but was thought too young so Trisha was given it for the actual soundtrack.

They were released at the same time and LeAnn's became the big pop whilst Trisha's was bigger on the country charts, hence her Grammy win in the 'Country' category.
