You know, I don't think even think I could rank Robyn's singles this year. "Hang With Me" is my least favourite, but putting it at the bottom of a list would imply it's bad, when all Robyn has done this year is shit on every other artist from a very great height at every single turn.

I was stupidly late to the party with Robyn but I got there in the end (the end being mid-November) and have been hammering Body Talk ever since! The album is truly sublime, as are all three singles - their only fault being that they're somewhat cut from the same cloth and therefore for lacking in variety, something which the album itself isn't at all.

Hang With Me gets me every time - acoustic and album versions - the sentiment of the song is heartbreakingly relatable and the melody, particularly in the simple yet quietly soaring chorus, is beautifully effective, especially teamed with those hypnotic shimmery synths. I think it's sadly under-appreciated on here but I adore it. Dancing On My Own didn't actually hit me immediately (the single version is also utterly superfluous) but has grown on me rapidly, as of late. Melodically it's the least interesting of the three and the lyrics, though wonderful, are a tad Robyn-by-numbers. It does have atmosphere in spades though, it captures a particular mood and frame of mine perfectly and is brilliantly cathartic as a result. Indestructible is probably my favourite production-wise and the chorus clicked instantly with me, but I find it slightly lacks that certain 'wow'-factor.

With all that in mind, I think it goes like this:

3. Indestructible.
But ranking them really doesn't do them justice.

In no certain order, here is my list of 12 Great Singles of 2010.

'The Flood - Take That: Strings! Robbie! That bridge! All of that and a soaring chorus helped the band live up to the reunion/comeback hype that surrounded them.

'Insatiable' - Nadine Coyle: Nadine tackles a Tinaesque production with her stellar voice that made me believe it was worth the wait for her solo material. Unfortunately, then the album came.

'Back to December' - Taylor Swift: A ballad in its truest form, and Swift at her most mature and empathetic. The lyrics fit the melody almost perfectly.

'Telephone' - Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce: Gaga's most instant dancefloor filler, with a production that is more intricate than it initially seems. Don't be surprised if this song ages better than some of her more famous material.

'Power' - Kanye West: Why apologize when you can throw your middle finger up at the media and the public while simultaneously leaving us all wanting more. Kanye's biggest tour de force since 'Jesus Walks'.

'Parachute' - Cheryl Cole: La Cole finally puts her 'Fight For This Love' military wardrobe to good use with this percussion-based, marching band-esque production and a chorus that lodges itself in your head and refuses to leave.

'Tighten Up' - The Black Keys: Bluesy, funky, and rocking, with vocals that sound laced with sin. Not to be missed.

'Whip My Hair' - Willow Smith: The gimmick of the year. . .that actually worked.

I like this list a lot. Mine is totally different, but I like it. And you reminded me how amazing Wile Out is! I've also never heard Nipsey Hu$$le but that song is MASSIVE. How did I miss it?!
