I have to wonder what the rollout strategy is for the rest of the albums in this planned series - I can't remember off the top of my head if it was ever confirmed how many she'd recorded, but I'm assuming there will be at least three. Do we think she's sick and twisted enough to announce the second one Friday/within a week of RENAISSANCE, or will she let each one settle before unleashing another?

Yeah, it struck me immediately when she shouted him out on "Heated", and all I could think of was the routines club performers would inevitably be doing to that song and the album for years to come, carrying on his legacy. Very beautiful.

I'm reluctant to be vulnerable here or anywhere for several reasons but I'm very emotional about it all after explaining it to my friends tonight. A very intense week for me generally but hearing her put that on record was incredible.

I wasn't even up to that point when I made that post. Crazy.

Amazon Italy said there were three albums, but who knows if that's accurate. At the very least there are two, according to Variety, which is the country album. Really excited to hear how she turns that genre on its head after this.

It all comes back to her speech about Uncle Johnny for me and how the album is dedicated to him. I don't know how I'm ever going to be able to separate the album from that personally.
Likewise!

Watching her get a bit choked up mentioning him just hits my heart every time. And it's so fucked, too. I just found out one of my older coworkers from Ohio passed away today, and he was like...the warm, wise Santa Claus of our office. He would tell me stories of watching his friends die during the epidemic in the 80s and getting into social work to overcome his guilt about surviving. It's just weird hearing he's gone. It just really drove home the idea that people that shape us can be gone in a minute. So having Beyoncé create and uphold her honor for that which came before her... it means a lot to see her stand up for Blackness but even more for her to understand how much it intersects with queerness. There's so much heart in this record to unveil.

When we get visuals, I would love to see Dominique Jackson eat up Alien Superstar.

The Uncle Johnny lyric is my favorite so far. It’s unequivocally sassy (the connotations of which are not lost on me!) but also tender, a befitting ode to a beloved, and presumably uniquely significant, family member.

Also, I know I joked about this being her Born This Way, but that line is very much “My mama told me when I was young…”
