I thought the performance was of course fantastic, and giving the album such a loving outing in the middle of a football field felt incredibly appropriate. She is the best performer of the 21st Century without a single shred of a doubt. I do however see the point of everyone who felt a little underwhelmed from the fact that it kind of feels like "too little, too late" and this being the first time she's performed anything from the last two albums in front of a professional camera (where the footage wasn't getting a limited theatrical release before being thrown into an incinerator) just continues to smart. It just didn't really feel in aid of much; the narrative (or lack thereof) around the album is largely wrapped up. I'm assuming Netflix threw a ton of money at her and basically said she could do what she wanted, and she said, "Oh yeah, that!" when going through what she could perform and being reminded of a No.1 single that's not even a year old. Maybe Grammy voters will do the same.
I'm actually... kind of cool on the idea of a tour for the first time in my life. But we'll see what actually happens closer to the time.
