I'm not running with the buzz bc all that shit has ever done is generate disappointment.

I think COWBOY CARTER has only ever demonstrated how she can willfully extrude more creativity across genre lines by sheer desire and nearly sheer force. In worries of being a 'less focused narrative' amongst her albums since 2013, I don't necessarily think that it struggles. I think it's given space for her to be more over-the-top, self-explorative, and self-indulgent in ways that white musicians always can choose to do when it deemed appropriate of the stature that they've chosen, not even earned. For that alone I don't hold much for that against it.

I think Beyoncé crafting energy and joy for a mission statement that explores her long-recognized song and vocal craft against the very forces that denied her a place in a culture that belongs to her to be just as admirable as acknowledging how Black queer inspiration led her to where she is. I find them to function as such in integral demonstrations of self - and a win for COWBOY CARTER is just as much a win for RENAISSANCE itself too.

I honestly couldn’t guess how the Grammys will go on the night, but it’s my AOTY and I really hope she takes it!

Do we think the Jan 14 announcement will now align with the Grammys? I feel like there was a wave of rumours and supposed leaks after the postponement (Chicago! Sweden! Houston residency!) which is now starting to crest again (Chitlin Circuit trademark! 8 nights at Spurs!) which makes me feel like somethings coming, whether the rumours are true or not. Or it could amount to nothing and I’m just experiencing Hive Delusion. I look at that horse and I feel existential terror.

Sweden?!

Well, apparently, she’s on the cover of the February issue of Vogue US, so I think they’ll announce the tour around the same time the magazine comes out (cover/article should be out within the first two weeks of the month).

In a funny/weird way I guess delaying the annoucement of the tour might actually work in her favour. If she does end up winning AOTY at the Grammys this weekend, she can capitalise on that when she the tour dates drop and it can be one big old celebration.

It makes perfect sense. Even if she's "only" performing and winning other categories there will be way more buzz than on Jan 14th (three weeks after Beyoncé Bowl made little sense). They will again be able to active the "most awarded Grammy nominee of all time" angle, for example.

The Sweden thing was very dubious and I think it came up at the same time as the Stade de France rumour - both were basically no more than “a friend of a friend works there and she’s coming for 3 nights in May!” but as a UK/EU girly I’m really hoping there’s plans to come back here.

I set more store in believing the Chicago date that was sent out by a company, I think?

February cover should've been out already no?
