Big Boys

He/Him
My Internet stopped working last night. I managed to get it working this morning and have watched 3 eps of Series 3. Hoping not to see any spoilers; even though I’ve read (well, listened to) his book and know what happened in real life.

Outside of the UK here… did Channel 4 just dump all the episodes onto the streaming/on-demand platform? Were any of them on air? The dates of release all being listed as Sunday threw me off.

Channel 4 are airing 2 episodes per week on Sunday evenings at 10pm but they put the whole series on their streaming service (also called Channel 4) on Sunday morning.

I just watched the whole thing in one sitting. What a fantastic show from beginning to end. The beginning of the last episode was so moving.

The actor playing Danny deserves some award recognition, he was so charming throughout and really vulnerable, everything he did broke my heart.
I absolutely agree. The nuance in his performance through has been stunning.

It was the perfect ending really. Even Shannon didn’t annoy me too much this series.

I'm 2 eps in on S3. First episode was a bit rubbish and too Shannon-heavy, but once back in the UK it picked up. Maybe it's always been like this and I've only just noticed, but the pacing is frantic. Each scene is about 20 seconds long before moving on to the next.

I was expecting Danny to die sadly, but I didn’t expect the alternative ending where he was saved and became the new student rep. Brilliantly done. I gasped when Jack walked along the beach in the opening of episode 6.

I read afterwards that Jack (the writer) based Danny off 4 friends but sadly 1 didn’t make it. So it made perfect sense with how it was done.

Me and my friends used to love Fleet services as a stop off point on route to university so that put a massive smile on my face.

My only quibble with the finale is that too much time was given to the Katy Wix character who is intensely annoying

I saw that as redemption for her character more than anything. She basically saved Danny’s life in that timeline, and when on the phone to Tim showed she’d been putting on the bouncy personality to try and bring him round.

Shannon remains THE WORST character by a mile and the entire series could have done without her.

Just finished series 3, and aside from that rotten first episode it was definitely better than series 2. Definitely the right place to finish, 18 episodes of (mostly, mainly) great writing and acting.

You know what I liked? The horrendous leader of the spoken word group pronouncing the word authentic as “owthentic” just to add that extra layer of pretension.
Oh my God, yes! So annoying!

I actually quite liked Jules and Shannon. In fact all of the characters.

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not, but Shannon's mum arriving felt like an unnecessary storyline. And was Danny dying a shock? I felt like that was always implied from the narration. A bit like the approach in We Need To Talk About Kevin. Very sad though and a reminder that we sometimes don't know whats going on for people.
