This song is hilarious, I'm sorry. "I'm good, yeah, I'm feeling alright", she devoured these lyrics with such precision and poise that I have to stan in a nonsensical way. I think the song is largely awful, but I do enjoy it at times. The song makes me feel like I'm back in Freshers' Week during my undergraduate degree in first year, drinking VK Blue and dancing in the nastiest club dance floors imaginable. "I'm Good (Blue)" is just a trashy, fun, disposable song. There's not much more to it and... maybe there shouldn't be.

There was discourse™ on Twitter about this song recently, where essentially, the user was saying that people just hate fun music these days, using this song as an example of over-hated "fun" music. I think it's fair to think that way: "I'm Good (Blue)" is just a fun song to dance to. However, to be honest, these quick lil' dance singles can be so much more. We've seen this! Zedd's career has shown that it's possible to actually create brilliant songs with our favourite flops and Big Pop Girls' alike. He was able to make Selena Gomez sound alive in "I Want You To Know" and created instant classics with "Clarity", "The Middle" and "365". Hell, he even managed to make Alessia Cara have a good song! These are all songs which are fucking bangers, but also have a longevity to them that I'm not sure "I'm Good (Blue)" will have.

Interestingly, this song has a semi-long story. It's actually an old song, from 2017, which David Guetta played during a DJ set. It didn't quite take off then and it just stayed vaulted... until it took off steam on TikTok when someone shared a snippet and became a viral sound. It was then that Bebe went back to re-record her vocals and the song was dropped. After the song was released, it became an omega hit across the globe, the rest is history. I'm happy for Bebe, she's had success in the past, but it's good to see her sustain it.

The song samples that one Eiffel 65 song that everyone knows; essentially, it's the entire song. @TéléDex drags David Guetta's production, commenting "Not really interested in his return to his Nothing But the Beat sound packs. Nice try, Bebe. Shame about the song. I'm good, but not that way." I agree, it's a very cheap sounding song.

The best way to describe this song is just "Love Island Soundtrack". It sounds perfect for it. I'm sure they use it on the show. I wouldn't know, but I just know it. The music video is literally serving Love Island, with Bebe Rexha doing... whatever the fuck she was doing in that pool, looking like an alligator ready to catch its prey.

And that's exactly why it's a 10!!

For real though, this is actually the perfect example of hating fun music for no reason. It's a mindless bop with a serious dose of nostalgia and I genuinely love it. Deserved better.

In conclusion

Is being nostalgic a crime? I know you fruit baskets aren't gonna try and condescend me over an old dance sample whilst simultaneously streaming the limescale out of Taylor Swift Discography (Taylor's Version)

I just like to party and sing nothing lyrics! To quote Drag Race Royalty Sugar from Sugar and Spice et al - it's so easy and so fun! Heehee!
