HIGHEST SCORE: 10 x 3 (@Slice of Life, @Maria, @Dangerous Maknae)
LOWEST SCORE: 2 x 3 (@Jersey, @Purple, @Verandi)
MY SCORE: 8

"Question...?" is the seventh song on Taylor Swift's latest album. It charted at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 when the album came out. It's not one of my favourites from Midnights, but I do think it's somewhat maligned when I do think there's some 'filler' tracks on that album that could be out before this. I will get to those later, hehe.

"Question...?" samples one of Taylor's hits, "Out of the Woods", with the opening line of "I remember" being directly from the original track, using distorted vocals (something which seems to be a recurring style of the album). "Question...?", thematically, matches a lot of the ideas of what Midnights is. Taylor framed the album as a series of songs about thoughts and moments that happened during the evening. It's a loose concept, but it makes sense for a lot of songs on the album. The song sees Taylor question an ex, pondering whether they still think of their time together. It's essentially her overthinking her previous relationship. The "Out of the Woods" sample is also interesting, since it fits the themes of this too, seeing that song is also reminiscing of a previous relationship with a similar ending.

In a lot of ways, I can see why this could inspire the low scores (there were more .25s, .5s and .75s that aren't here), since this is effectively Taylor on autopilot in a lot of ways. At times, it does feel like this was written by ChatGPT, after asking it to write you a Taylor Swift pop song. For me, I don't particularly mind this - considering there are other moments which are new for Taylor in many ways - and this song is far too catchy for me to care. The biggest issue I have with it is probably the slightly clunky chorus, but it works since it did get ingrained in my brain because of Taylor's delivery.
